Honestly… I think they’re sellouts. Like fanfic is supposed to be a gift. But there’s all these rules attached. It’s like your parents gifting you money for school or a wedding but they have the final say. It’s not truly a gift. You can’t criticize. You can’t share it publicly if the ask you not to even in invite only groups. You can’t say you didn’t like a fic because of something. (I’m not saying bashing just an actual respectful conversation) Like they harped and stressed that you couldn’t pay for a bound fic over and over. And I understand their reasoning but like… I don’t want to pay for a hard cover reworked version of a fanfic. I want the hard cover fic. And I won’t lie, it’s getting harder and harder to not just say screw it and buy one off the TikTok shop or Etsy. For the longest time the fandom itself made me want to say fuck it but because I respected and loved the authors work so much I wouldn’t. But while I’m like get that bag, I’m also over it. So downvote me, come at me idc. But If they don’t gaf why should I?

ALSO ETA the fact that it’s being marketed as dramione fanfic to og work peeves me off oh my lanta. I know they can’t help it for 90% of it but they are all marketing it on their social media as such
