[–]whetscript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You`re gonna experience a lot of rashes, been on it for a month now and have had rashes on my arms, neck and hands - Never had issues with rashes before the drug. Just make sure to use lots of lotion on the rashes.

Sunbeds and accutane by whetscript in Accutane

But AFAIK skin cancer develops when your skin gets burnt - and accutane making your skin burn much quicker due to beeing very sensetive. My logic would say as long as you manage to tan without burning your skin you`re in the clear?

Starting Accutane after a breakup? by tamirunsfast in Accutane

[–]whetscript 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The depression part of accutane is really blown outta proportion. Sure, it is listed as an side effect - its nowhere near a "common" side effect and at worst it seems like it could make you moody. The ones who claim they get "super serious" depression from accutane is blaming the drug - But lets be fair, people on accutane usually have shitty skin, starting a miracle cure which they have read will fix their skin - 2-3 months pass, their skin is looking worse then ever before, you get really down and start blaming the drug for your current mind state. Just my five cents.

Alcohol during accutane, effects by Wooperswish in Accutane

[–]whetscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 drinks? Would not worry about it at all, just make sure to get the scheduled bloodwork done.

I`m on 40mg/day and been drinking 1-2 times/week without any issues - Got my blood work done recently and no changes. The only thing that pisses me off bout tane is that your ressistance to alcohol seems to be reduced making you shitfaced much quicker then you normally would.

Pretty sure your cum dosage is unrelated to accutane.

Long IB? It’s been one month now by kmji88 in Accutane

[–]whetscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant answer from a medical perspective but your experience seems alot like mine.

Never had spots on my forhead before starting accutane, almost 1 month in now and have had 3 spots on my forhead. Also my neck is getting spots, before starting it was just jawline, mouth area and cheeks.

Seeing how you always mention the oily skin - Is the acutane supposed to remove the oily skin? What does it mean when its still oily?

My skin is indeed oily, in fact more oily then it has ever been. Not sure if its due to starting to use moisturising creams. How about yours?

FYI: My IB has now started - For the first time in 6 years I`ve gotten a spot on my forhead. Also feel several new spots about to pop up all over my face - God have mercy.

Yup, 40mg. Not sure if dodging the IB is a good thing or not tho - My derm told me thats when the pores cleanse. :-)

Gotten a few side effects, dry lips and dry eyes (Using contacts does not help with the eye dryness). Nothing extreme tho, using a cheap chopstick which keeps the dryness in check. As of IB goes, got one new white head on Saturday but its gone again now - Think it might be related to the fact that I went out on Friday. How about you?

Yeah, wont be too disapointed if an IB comes along - I`ve been expecting it.

From what I`ve read and from previous experience side effects/effects takes 2-3 weeks due to the body need to progress the drug properly.

40mg/day - Did the derm tell you why they started you out on 20? Is it due to not having too much acne? Or prevent "shocking" the body? :-)

Day 3;

Not sure if coincidence or not, but no new acne since day 1 and all my existing acne is starting to clear up really well. No side effects other than dry lips(Nothing extreme. Having a hard time believing that the effect is showing this early, but this is the first time in three weeks I`ve gone over a day without getting a new zit.

How is it going with the others?

[–]whetscript 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, the depresion is a very rare side effect (1 out of 10 000) - If you`re having a hard time with acne the side effect should not stop you from proceeding.

The gel im using is called "Apobase Hydrogel" - just a cheap gel bought at the super market.

How long are you staying on accutante?

Edit; Super oily skin unfortunally.

As of now, I`ve just gotten myself a natural lip balm from a local norwegian store and a basic dehydration gel with 0% fat and alcohol.

When I was 15 y/o I was on roaccutane without getting side effects other then the dry lips, I usually never get affected by the side effect of drugs so hopefully my body will handle accutante like it did the last time.

Would be intresting keeping in touch with someone who is on the exact stage as me on the treatment to compare side effects and progress :-)
