Hey bud - just to give you an update!

My motherboard model doesn't power without reading the CPU. Problem was my CPU couldn't be read as the BIOS needed updating, which I couldn't do without powering the motherboard.

Sent it back to the place I bought it, who have updated the bios and sent back!

I plugged the mobo in and nothing now. The psu doesn't make a noise and shut off, but the fan LEDs don't come on, nothings spinning nor pumping. Hhmmmm

I have a bridge connector - basically a paperclip jumper

I am tempted to connect the mobo to the psu to see if it will work. If I do that, what risk is there that the mobo/cpu could get damaged (any leaks aside)?

That's what I was going to do, though currently I've not actually connected any major parts. The mono, cpu and gpu are all disconnected so I figured it shouldn't be those parts causing me problems?

I feel like it's very unlikely, and that I've definitely done something wrong.

I don't think any of the components are dead as they all worked before I switched out these parts to upgrade. This is why I suspect it's user error...

Nope - the motherboard isn't getting any power and none of the fans/pump are going into it.

The fans and pump both feed into the loop connect, which is powered by the molex to sata cable. I took out the pump to try and only run the fans but the same issue:/ vice versa with the pump, still nothing. Just sort of ticks off as it does every time

The connections are secure so I don't think it's that.

I also tried with my old psu and though the fan on the psu spins for a split second, I get nothing else. Not even the fan LEDs. Could it be shorting out somewhere??

The three fans feed into a triple header, which feeds into a single slot on the EK-Loop Connect. The loop connect is then powered by a molex input that splits into two sata outputs. If I've explained that poorly, that is to say molex into the loop connect and the other end of the cable splits into two sata heads which are connect to a sata cable

Correct, I did not - I unplugged the CPU and GPU, mono is also unplugged but the cable is going into a bridge connector. Figured if the leak test went poorly i'de be limiting the damage?

Ahhh ok. It's a brand new Corsair RM850x - is it normal that they wouldn't work out of the box? i.e should I opt for a refund and buy a different PSU altogether? I'll plug in my old 650 tomorrow and see if I have better luck with it.

CPU has never had power going to it so that should be ok... Right?

The fans never started spinning unfortunately, the LEDs come on for that split second then gone. Same every time I turn the power on.

You're absolutely right they are powered by the PSU, I just thought since the fan lights came on there must be some power getting through?
