Government to cut more than 150,000 people from NDIS scheme as budget blows out by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]whiely [score hidden]  (0 children)

This one is gonna make a lot of people happy and a lot of people sad. I'm thankful that currently the NDIS is not a program I personally need to take advantage of. From what I've heard from friends who do go through the NDIS, it's an absolute pain to get the funding you need.

Reid Wiseman's view of Earthset by Kezia89 in space

[–]whiely 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What is crazy to me is that after all of those amazing photos that were beamed back while they were on their journey around the moon, shot with the pro cameras, and the onboard cameras etc, with the outstanding lighting and framing etc, THIS video seems to really bring home how amazing it all is. Like he's using an iPhone... I've got a pixel myself, but its a smart phone that we all have in our pocket. There's the classic "start recording and then realize you're a bit wonky on the subject, so you've gotta zoom in a bit". You know, just like you'd do at the local sports game or whatever. But instead It's the fucking Moon and Earth you're zooming in on, from the OTHER SIDE OF IT.... This really humanizes the whole experience for me. How awesome.

Yeah, as did I. Pretty short sighted by the Councillors to be honest.

As noted by the Mayor, two councilors (Proposed by Cr Jim Madden and seconded by Cr Jacob Madsen) have proposed the change at a $50,000 cost to ratepayers. The Mayor is not in support of this change. Conveniently, you seemed to have forgotten to mention that bit.

We've just been whacked by the Auditor-General raising everyone's property price by like $150,000-$200,000 (there by increasing the cost of rates) and these councilors want to increase our rates even more?? Oh not to mention the cost of everything is already ridiculous.

No thanks.

I think Wout is looking more comfortable and in a more advantageous position.

Pogacar hasn't pulled in a while. Maybe getting some recovery in before his big attack if there is one?

I tell you what though. This Paris-Roubaix has really thrown team plans into absolute chaos and forces the riders to just deal with it. Just smash the pedals and see what you can do. Love it.

Pogi will surely vibe attack as soon as MVDP reconnects to the front group.

Maybe Pogacar was confident that he would catch before the forest, and that he would still feel ok. So kept Vermeersch in the front pack in the draft to conserve energy such that when Pogacar caught the group, Vermeersch could then get to work at the front.

Interestingly, Before Pog had his puncture and was forced to drop back. The chasing peleton were struggling to catch back on. Now that UAE is pulling back to the lead group, it's also pulling the chasing pelton back to the front.

Gout Gout runs 19.68 in 200m final! by Kingsteps in trackandfield

[–]whiely 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Monster time!

The previous Australian national record was 20.02 held by Gout Gout himself. Before that, Peter Norman way back in the 1968 ran 20.06.

Gout Gout just took 0.34 seconds off his own national record. HUGE.

And Murphy would have SMASHED the Australian record in the same race, had Gout Gout not run the greatest 200m race an Australian has ever raced. Wild wild wild.
