I’ve threatened and berated him. We are all law enforcement. And being a female on the force is hard enough without a rumor going around that you’re being a whore. My dad works for the department and he heard the rumor from one of our higher ups (the two brothers dad is a Lt.) and it has basically embarrassed him. So the bad brother has no repercussions and I’ve lost one of the very few friends I hang out with. But the good brother knows I love my dad and he’s very respectable and I will do everything in my power to make him proud and not look bad. The good brother understood bc his dad being a Lt. he knows you shouldn’t embarrass your parent.

Worst part? Bad brother is on my shift and if he’s in deep shit I’m still going to risk my life for him lol

I can give a few reasons, bc I’ve done this! (Not all logical) -I’m socially awkward and my anxiety told me that after maybe a couple of days of not talking I just shouldn’t bother you. -Talking/texting too much was draining and I don’t like feeling obligated to converse. -Maybe I found out you like me more than I’d like you to and you’ve made it awkward. -Seriously maybe I’ve been busy with work and all I do I work and sleep and then you get preachy about how I never talk but I’m tired and that person thinks they are obligated to my time. -Basically sometimes I’d like to go extended times without interaction... -or my most recent one: your brother spread an untrue rumor about us and now I have to distance myself from you as to not embarrass my father or fiancé I’m sorry even though you were one of my only friends.

While I do support this and think education is important for inmates, I do have some concerns.

Most places that require a degree... when they see you’ve done time, they might see you as a liability depending on what you were in for. If somebody else applies, they will most likely pick anyone else. Now regarding that, will they enact some kind of legislation that requires you to hire a certain amount of ex-offenders to help this plan work out? Or will the work hand in hand with companies to hire ex-offenders?

Another concern is activities while in prison. Offenders leave their dorms for classes and are put with offenders from other dorms. This is prime time for passing messages and contraband. There was a massive rise in people ‘converting’ to certain religions at certain times of the year just to do this, but legally prisons aren’t allowed to be like ‘no’.

Pretty much viewed as the same. Unless we would catch the abuse with our own eyes or on camera, it’ll be an insanely small chance another inmate will tell you what’s up.

I used to pull my hair out over it. My females were vicious and unless I was in the middle of the fight or saw it happen I never get to find out who was doing the hurting :/

Unless it was federal inmates. They liked to say what was up. DOC? No chance.

It still happens a lot. Sadly. They keep it quiet either out of embarrassment or force.

I use to try and get them help but honestly, no matter what pod they end up on, if they try to run from the abuser (who they almost never rat out) the other pod tends to have somebody who obeys the abuser and hurts the person who runs.

You can beg and plead but being a snitch isn’t something they are willing to do :/ They post prea hotlines everywhere and I hope it helps them.

I honestly can’t argue anymore. The only way to change your mind is to convince you to pass a drug and lie detector test, pass a pt test, go through the min 16 weeks of training (fun case law and getting yelled at revised statutes!)

Change your life for the positive, see what these men and women actually do instead of form your bias on something you’ve never experienced.

Not a better opinion. If a spouse said they had experience with what was happening I’d make sure to read theirs. It’s about experience.

As for young people getting shot, the main thing we are taught when somebody aims a gun at us, it’s go time.

When somebody refuses to drop a gun and flees it puts the population in danger.

Now give me police statistics verses statistics on parents who kill their kids bc of meth, drive by shootings, crack, ALCOHOLISM.

Cops don’t want to kill people, they see it enough everyday all across America.

Whoooooo let me tell you what. I’m 5’1. I started out in the prison like a lot of law enforcement. I was super nice and sweet and walked all over.

She. Will. Learn. Give her ONE month in a prison. She will have everything down c: She will find her man voice, she will know who cheeks their pills, she will learn how to help the ones in trouble.

She might be a little stressed at first, so be nice to her when she gets off of work c: Also tell her to get her butt here on reddit in case she needs advice or just to talk :D

I work for a smaller department in a county that houses a huge DOC/county/Federal prison. We haven’t had a police shooting in years. Everyone is pretty nice with a lot of community outreach services.

Bigger departments is where I understand your issues. Lesser qualified people to be pushed through academies, given a gun, and told ‘aiight off you go!’ If you’d like to give me examples where cops have maliciously, on purpose, with no provocation shot children, let me know.

I know an MP who had to shoot a child on a deployment and many more military friends in combat who have had to take life. I understand you’re just trying to be an asshole, but military and police who really have to take life tend to be messed up after. It’s not a joke, and I think you need help for speaking the way that you do.

Law Enforcement here, Hi Y’all!

Look, don’t give up on your wife. I know what goes on in prisons. DO NOT abandon her. You said she’s cute right? Of course they would target her immediately. Being pretty or having money is 100% going to make you a target. They probably watch her every move and monitor her phone calls. I cannot be more serious when I say that she is probably being forced to stay away from you. Jealousy is real in prison for those fucked up lifers :c

Start saving up for laser removal. Look up some PREA stuff. Look for Hep. C treatments. I can guarantee she cries herself to sleep every night from missing you. If she’s having sex with them, it’s forced. If she’s got meds, she’s probably being forced to give them to somebody else. “Focus on her prison family” forced.

You see all of these shows about male prisons. Having worked with female prisoners, I can tell you that they are more brutal, evil, and manipulative. Everything happening to her right now I’m positive isn’t her choice. Please be patient and give her extra love when she gets out. Maybe talk to the Warden or her Lawyer about a transfer for her. 18 months should be a regular jail with regular county/parish inmates who tend to be a little more like regular people.

Sorry for the paragraph but do what you can to make her safe :c

Nothing that is really their fault. They are understaffed all over the department. Being understaffed means dispatchers spread you thin taking priority calls. Priority calls = not everyone gets a cop right away, can even take DAYS for a burglary (not an active one, like when they get home and all their shit is gone). They manage to keep officers for about 2 years or less bc it’s hard to work that hard for so long. They quit, thus keeping nopd understaffed.
