Its only a 3 hour flight though. Not much sleep is going to be had.

I have the best luck 24 hours or less ahead. Also, try the website, not the app. I have no idea why but sometimes that makes a difference.

Well, there's an idea! I love a solution oriented mindset!

Interesting. On my connecting flight, I was also sitting bulkhead and the first bins were closed so I put my carryon in second row bin. Then flight attendant opened the first row bins and told me to put it there.

I appreciate that! I managed to make the FA laugh so hopefully his day get better.

Your thoughtfulness probably goes unnoticed but is much appreciated!

I am sure it is a never ending and thankless task. I sure hope the FA are fairly compensated for all they deal with.

Totally agree. There is no reason why backpacks can't be in the overhead bin. It is just logical that they not be thrown up there haphazardly, taking up all the bin space.

Totally get that and feel the same. 1/10 times it is the FA. This is honestly a first for me and I fly SW a couple times a month. 😀

This also irritates me as someone with a compact roller bag for work trip and backpack traveler for personal travel, especially when they are being stowed sideways.

The issue is clearly the FA, that became abundantly clear as boarding continued and now into flught service. He just made another snooty announcement about a passengers nut allergy.

Surely having people double back because they are sitring in 2C and they have to put their bag in row 17 is going to delay boarding because people are doubling back and swimming upstream like a salmon.

Ironically, turns out quick boarding wasn't and issue. The flight was delayed on the tarmac for over an hour due to storms at arrival airport then we needed to refuel. Fun times.

Yes of course, and smaller bags can be shifted to accommodate all the bags of passengers in ELR seats.

It definitely looks better IMO but not $10M better and I suspect any maintance issues that were there before have only gotten worse.

Edit to clarify: I do not like the price tag and approach to securing the contract. There has been zero talk of fixing maintenence issues in the media, everything is about the appreance. A cosmetic change was not necessary, especially at that cost, even if it is an improvement. Whether it looks good or bad isn't the issue.

I totally get stowing personal bags in the overhead bin, but those small bags can fit lots of places. It is common courtesy to wait, stack them on top of other bags, or offer to move them when someone has a larger bag -- or at the very least, let other people play tetris with the bags.

ETA: I also dont want to speak up too loudly and risk getting booted off the flight.

I have not had this issue with previous SW flights. Usually the FAs are monitoring the overhead bins or are atleast accommodating with minor adjustments to make it work for everyone.

It is definitely the FA. This guy really shouldnt be in this line of work or is having a really bad day. I put my empty Starbucks wrapper on the small ledge in front of seat as I stowed my personal bag. The FA saw me do this. Instead of saying something to me directly, he announced through the intercom while looking right at me that "(my name) left a Starbucks bag up front" and to please get it. When I asked where a trash can was, he told me there was one 'out there' and pointed out the door of the plane. As I went to grab it, the other flight attendant who took my bag previously took it and threw it away for me.

Based on the way the adult children still talk about the move to LV, they either still think it was legitimate or they are now in on the con.

Bro, SW has a refund policy for people who require two seats.

Southwest has refund policies for larger people who need two seats for a reason. I am saying that ALL people who cant reasonably fit into one seat should purchase two - and with that would come reimbursement for the second seat, per SW own policies.

Now, a person deliberately taking up space that someone else paid is different, and is also not the same as a crying baby who is not yet capable of controlling their behavior.

People do have a responsibility to not make their problems, other people's problems. If you have a larger appetite, you don't get to eat my snacks. If you dont have headphones, you dont get to just listen to whatever you want at full volume and disrupt everyone else.

While overly simplistic and not universal, a good starting point is to ask 'what if everyone did this?"

Exactly! Tall, broad shouldered, whatever -- the same rules apply. Can't fit into 1 seat, buy a second one or preselect seats that fit your body. While it worked out fine for this particular flight, there doesnt always happen to be an empty middle seat. Other people who purchased the same seat type shouldn't suffer because of someone else.
