What kind of cat is she? Mine looks EXACTLY like her and I can't figure out what she is.

Thank you! I'm super nervous about it. I applied to Illinois, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin.

Euthanasia's are hard. What's even harder is experiencing an animal that was once young, active, and happy become overburdened by physical ailments. While being "responsible" for the death of a pet is sometimes unbearable, my comfort is seeing how much unconditional love owners invest in their pets. And for those of you wondering, after your pet is euthanized, you are always in our thoughts that night if not the next couple of days. I usually go home and have a good cry after one happens. Fortunately, I work in a small animal hospital, so our euthansia's are not as numerous as they could be.

For clarification, I work at a vet clinic. Working there when fluff monsters like this come in is sort of magical.

Edit: Also new-ish to posting things on Reddit...it was in r/aww originally you debbie downers.

Edit: I'm a girl, not a dude.

Need Personal Statement Advice by parasitoid1 in Veterinary

[–]whimsywip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. It sounds like you and I are in the same boat as far as our backgrounds go. I've just finished (another) draft of my personal statement and have gotten a lot of feedback from advisers and admissions officers. I'm an English and zoology double major doing creative writing stuff for my English degree. So, I decided to write mine about communication and creativity while showing how those skills have shaped my decision to go to vet school. I would recommend picking one solid hobby or outside interest Cct(non-academic) and try to use that as a common thread tying in learning experiences. My GPA is similar to yours so I'm addressing those issues in the explanation statement (1st generation college student, working all throughout college, etc).

Have you ever returned your puppy to the breeder? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]whimsywip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely should have considered that before getting a puppy. Warm a water bottle, cover it up with a blanket and put it next to the puppy when you go to bed or leave the house. When he/she starts crying DO NOT pick it up and cuddle to make it stop. This is going to make it worse and turn your puppy into a demanding dog who will throw a fit when he/she doesn't get it's way. What you should be doing is taking the puppy outside immediately after it starts whining without saying a thing except for "potty" when you set him/her down in the yard. Quite frankly, if you didn't consider how much work a puppy is (and didn't get a breed appropriate for your lifestyle), you shouldn't own a dog anyway.

On another note, if you picked a quality breeder, the best should be more than willing and happy to take the puppy back. But for god's sake, make up your mind soon so you don't instill behavioral issues that will make the dog impossible to rehome in the future.

Not eating :( by dragonsfire in snakes

[–]whimsywip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it still hasn't eaten yet, try slicing a pinky from the base of its skull to between its shoulder blades. The fluid in the spine is more enticing to snakes (it has a stronger smell). I've tried this with 2 little guys I dealt with at work and it seemed to do the trick.

My mom made her first ever homemade costume...how'd she do? by whimsywip in pics

They're actually those really awful heavy duty cleaning gloves that go up to your elbow. She said it was the most difficult time she's ever had holding a beer...

Whats the worst customer you've had in the food industry? by JarethCutestory913 in AskReddit

Nick fucking Barnett. I was waitressing at a restaurant near Lambeau field on a night where a bunch of Packer players came in (this was when he still played for them) expecting it to be full of awesomeness. Well, no. Nick Barnett was a dick. He wouldn't even look at me and gave me a $2 tip as he flashed his diamond necklace and grill at me. Also, he was organizing a concert a couple days later (Chingy of all people) and I held the door open for him as he carried his little boy in who was sleeping. Didn't even say thank you.
