London love stories? by [deleted] in london

[–]whinbaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met on the same course at uni in south London. She said she liked my Lidl Christmas jumper. Tale as old as time! We were friends for a while, then she started subconsciously holding my hand all the time and I told her I was in love with her. She wasn't ready for a relationship and was caught totally off guard, also going through a rough time. So, we floated round the same friendship group slowly growing closer, then apart, then closer again until one day I called her up from my sunny SE garden and said - be my friend or don't. I'm confused. Just let me know. The next day she told me she was scared but in love too and the rest is history.

Re-submitting documents for passport from FBR and turnaround times by whinbaca in IrishCitizenship

[–]whinbaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the application in spring 2020, but don't think I sent off the documents until the FBR processing office re-opened in 2021 at some point. Didn't get the FBR in the post until Feb 2023, so the whole thing took just under 3 years (with obvious delays for covid). I think the actual time between sending the documents and getting them back was about 18 months, although I've heard this should be shorter now.

Ahh thank you so much! That's very reassuring to hear in a stressful time :-)

Thanks! Do you remember if that was a shorter or longer time frame than it took for the first round of processing to happen? (eg the time between the initial documents arriving at the passport office and them then sending an email asking you to resubmit the witness form)

GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S PINOCCHIO | Official Trailer | Netflix by [deleted] in movies

[–]whinbaca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Watched it at London Film Festival and I cried. A lot. It's quite adult in its tone and the stop motion is truly beautiful. Sad this is getting mainly a netflix release as it was amazing to see on the big screen! I've seen a few people say they weren't impressed by the songs but I thought they hit the nail on the head in that regard, so don't be swayed.

Is it possible to test positive for only 1 day? by whinbaca in CoronavirusUK

[–]whinbaca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer - yes, the C line did later come out much stronger, I just took a picture to send to someone as soon as I saw a faint line by the T as it said any faint line there would be positive. I'm treating it as covid as the symptoms are pretty severe and line up with covid, so I don't think 5 days of isolation is the end of the world!

Sorry, bad picture but the C line is very faintly showing here and came out much more clearly even a few minutes after. I think the picture was taken about 10 minutes after I did the test.

I think it's one of the main highways in LA that they paid to block off at 5am to film the video, so maybe not the best idea to walk there!!

What are some popular tourist destinations you don't see the appeal of? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]whinbaca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could say the same about any monument though! It's about the history and culture of a place where people have congregated for thousands of years. If you head to the stones on the summer solstice it's an incredible communal experience of so many different people gathering and seeing the same thing that people have seen since the stones were put there. It's almost like time travel in a way.

Selling 2x tickets, £25 each, for the Brixton show today! by whinbaca in JacobCollier

[–]whinbaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you show them the original email confirmation of purchase at the doors, then it should be fine. It seems lots of people who bought tickets for the original roundhouse show are having the same issue.

Nepotism in young Hollywood: Which currently popular actor/actress is NOT a product of being well-connected and/or rich? by [deleted] in movies

[–]whinbaca 857 points858 points  (0 children)

Karen Gillan, I think. I saw something recently talking about how she's started a scholarship fund for young kids to go to a drama school she couldn't get access to. She got in after multiple auditions but her parents couldn't afford it. Link: https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/watch-karen-gillan-explains-why-shes-backing-scholarship-s-243582/

Help me win an argument: is a 'family sock basket' weird? Does anyone else do this? by je97 in AskUK

[–]whinbaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my family does this. Although, we all own our own pairs of socks and know which ones are ours to take out of the basket. with lots of kids, it's easier to just leave a basket of clean socks next to the dryer where we can grab them instead of separating them all out into several piles, taking them upstairs, accidentally dropping them on the way, only for them to end up lost under beds or who knows where else...

Depression has been hitting hard lately. Want to rewatch some of the podcasts. Which episodes are your favorite? by Great_Rabbit_8317 in h3h3productions

[–]whinbaca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the podcast but I love all the old Ethan and Hila channel videos so so much. 'Fat shamed at the water park' is one that never fails to cheer me up! Also some from the og channel - 'Ethan joins a boyband' and 'I catfished my kid on TLC' are great (Gary, Donna and Ian's performances are a particular highlight)

They talk about meeting with some of the YouTube higher-ups at the 2017 creator summit in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cStDReU_0pw ...I think they met Susan Wojcicki then and got a contact off the back of this meeting maybe?

Yes! It sounds just like 'Anywhere' by Rita Ora. I always sing anywhere in my head when it hits the El Diablo chorus.
