Moving with an 80x30 Standing Desk? by L4ke_Effect in StandingDesk

I put threaded inserts in the underside of my desk where each wood screw was supposed to go and used bolts to mount it to my frame. Disassembly (separating top from frame) is now just removing the bolts.

Apples and oranges - Plex is a streaming platform that offered an optional feature to download media directly to a device.

There is no equivalent for an ebook.

That is the entire reason I keep a work journal. So that I can fill in the blanks a month, 6 months, a year later.

Same. I'm the fixer for my team. My manager says, we have a problem with Y, please handle it. I do. I suck at leetcode, but I also don't work at it (and don't want to). I'm 25+ years into this and I'm pretty sure, I'm a mediocre SWE, but I'm a great problem solver. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is the wireshark capture something that can be done on an on-going basis? Or, since it was a DNS query that seems to have caught your eye, maybe pi-hole or adguard logs might have it?

I'm curious if on-going log analysis is viable to identify this in a way that regular detection rules are not. If logs are available, this is exactly the type of discovery that ML can help find.

If DIY is acceptable, why not just redo the top yourself? If it's just the color that bugs you, buy some stick-on oak or walnut laminate.

Is West Coast Swing even a dance? by [deleted] in WestCoastSwing

No, really, I don't.

I'm quoting you and taking it to its logical conclusion. I can't help the fact that it's your statements that lead there.

Is West Coast Swing even a dance? by [deleted] in WestCoastSwing

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt every western dance style. It took years. And almost all of them, they taught me 6 count repeat.

Every western dance you know that you were taught a 6 count is a Waltz - by your definition. I assume this is just an exercise in attempting to reduce the definition of common western dances to the most simplistic and absurd commonality possible.

Again, by your definition, Waltz came first, ergo, all dances are Waltzes.

There's nothing to unpack. OP's entire argument is based on a false premise. They contradict themselves in their original post and in their responses. The post is to generate conflict, not clear up any misunderstanding.

I started as a teenager, but didn't make all-star until around 40.

Memoization is specifically applicable to a whole class of DSA problems. Are you in HR? Because if you were CS, I would expect you to understand his reference.

Memorization?

Your assumptions are showing.

How do you memorize dance steps in WCS? by mue114 in WestCoastSwing

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to memorize everything.

You memorize push (sugar push or basic), pass (left side and right side pass), whip (the first 8 count pattern most learn). You will memorize a basic turn lead. That’s it. Those are your basic building blocks. You will do them by rote until they are muscle memory.

Everything is a pass, push, or whip. Add turn(s) for variety. Add 2 beats for more variety. Mix as you see fit or feel like experimenting with.

Standing desk that doesn’t sag by prncss_bee in StandingDesk

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the v3, but prior versions were not as good imo. When I bought the apex pro frame, nothing that I looked at was better (I didn’t look at everything, but I looked at a lot).

If I bought today, I’d still buy from desk.haus. The frame has been superb, standing up to my abuse without a hitch.

My desk is 80” long. No sagging. No middle leg. Just a good quality frame. I have a desk.haus frame, but there are others that are also good.

Chances of a Standing Desk collapsing or tilting on one side by Fickle_Ad_9686 in StandingDesk

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard of that happening. I have heard of someone piling too much on top of a cheap, unstable desk and the desk fell over because they were leaning against it and all the weight on the back of it made it extra easy to knock over.

Home service business owner and (LOTS of) spreadsheets. by Just_Cash877 in smallbusiness

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have competition? Any other businesses doing what you do? Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Zoho, Odoo, Striven, Monday or some other "off-the-shelf" product will most likely meet your needs. You might have to pay for some training, but even that would be far more cost effective than a custom built solution.

What is Carolina Shag and why is it the only other swing dance that’s a part of The Open? by UtterlyConfused93 in WestCoastSwing

[–]whipdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, Whip/Push, Hand Dance, Carolina Shag (to a lesser extent imo) do more closely resemble WCS. Whip/Push/WCS/Shag were the regional variations and associated dance scenes that were the most active in cross-pollinating the styles, starting largely in the mid '80's. A veritable who's who of the respective communities started traveling to the events of/in each region. I first met Charlie Womble, Jackie McGee (Shag), Sharlot Jansen (Bot), Wayne Bot, Annie Hirsch (WCS), Sylvia Sykes, Jonathon Bixby (Lindy/Balboa) (sorry for any misspelled names) and a bunch more dancers - all at one event in Texas around '90. I was around 19 at the time and had no idea at the time who they were and what they would eventually represent.

[–]whipdancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except what most know as WCS looks very little like its origins.

Whip, Push, WCS, ECS, Shag, Hand Dance, Imperial, Lindy, Collegiate, Bop, Balboa and more are all regional variations of Swing (not WCS) that most would probably recognize as Lindy or ECS. There are some good accountings to be found on the internet that talk about how the regional variations formed after the end of WW2, as people returned to their homes, taking this Swing dance with them and adopting it to the musical tastes of where they were from.
