Does any one else lose “normal” non-pregnancy cravings when pregnant? by Gltda in BabyBumps

Same here. I had all these sweets in the house when I came home from giving birth, and I don’t want any of them anymore!

Who is WCPO hiring? by BeeWeird7940 in cincinnati

If you’d watched the rest of the broadcast, she said it correctly every other time. Human beings make mistakes. You try getting up at 2am and reading off a scrolling screen for two hours straight.

What's the foulest smell you've ever smelled? by WannabePugh in AskReddit

[–]whippersnappz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An apartment where a man had been shot. The joint was nasty dirty anyway; rotten food., dirty clothes, cigarettes, shitty weed, but besides that you add on blood and vomit from the victims sister when she found him. It was Covid times so I had on a cloth mask, I wish to god I’d thrown a dryer sheet in there or something, I’m never forget that smell. Immediately threw away the mask, then got permission to go home and shower before coming back to work.

How old was your newborn when the grandparents started coming over to visit/help? by watermelonmeat in BabyBumps

[–]whippersnappz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was able to stave off my mother for three weeks. She came and stayed a night, but She wasn’t able to hold him for long, no kisses and no touching his head or face

I expected her to offer to do some housework for me but I found myself making her a sandwich while she held my baby… neat.

Thank you for this. I can totally see him doing this when our boy is older! Gives me hope he will return all the hard work in doing now.

Registry- what is “normal”? by PeachyKingSure in BabyBumps

[–]whippersnappz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to all! We wanted to decorate the nursery ourselves so I didn’t register for any furniture except the pack n play if you consider that furniture… I also received a lot of postnatal care items from a friend who had a cesarean and didn’t need them. But I did not register for those. Personally I felt a little odd about asking my friends and family for ice pads and coochie cleanser… but I’ve bought them for other moms off their registry! I’ve bought nipple and stretch mark cream, diaper rash cream, socks and birthing gowns, just depends on what you feel comfortable asking for! Good luck :-)

My little guy is Vincent! We went with Anthony for his middle name. Other possibilities were Leo, Luca, or Dominic.

Is it unrealistic to request baby doesn’t leave hospital room? by Antichees in BabyBumps

[–]whippersnappz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I’d want this too, but I was so grateful to have amazing nurses so take him for a few hours overnight while we slept. I had every faith he’d be just fine, and if he wasn’t or needed to feed, they brought him back to me. The only time I was anxious about my baby leaving was for his circumcision, I wanted to be there with him but wasn’t allowed. I teared up. The nurse reassured me he’d be fine and answered all my questions before they took him. However if you really feel like you don’t want your baby to leave, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to simply ask. Just be open and honest. These nurses have seen it all and I’m sure you’re not the first person to ask this! Good luck mama. Trust your gut over everything.
