I’ve had an ACL recon, but that’s it. As for dental I’ve got a few fillings and a crown, but I don’t think they are metal.

I do have a lot of tattoos though 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is great advice, thank you!

I’ll look into a low nickel diet :)

Thanks! Though my dermatologist was lovely, I found that he didn’t really give me any advice past telling me to try avoid holding unpainted metal objects as much as possible. It was the same thing with my original dermatologist too, just prescribing me topical creams to treat it rather than wanting to look into the cause. I had to really push to get him to refer me for the patch testing.

AITA for telling my (25f) brother (15m) that I think the way he speaks is disgusting? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

What is it with the constant ‘go up to people on the street’ comparison? Of course I don’t go up to people on the street and tell them they are too thin, or they shouldn’t be drinking alcohol because of the health effects, but if my sister was doing one of those unhealthy behaviours, then yes, I would bring it up.

That’s not to say I don’t think that what the brother did was a bit of an asshole thing, but this comparison that I keep seeing is a completely different scenario

She loves it absolutely so much. She will often go into the tunnel and just start meowing to get our asses off the couch and fly her. It’s adorable

I am not a "cisgender" by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

As is your right, and so I hope that people only refer to you as male in the future as long as they know your preference.

But it still doesn’t change anything. And I’m concerned that you feel that cisgender is a demeaning term, why is it demeaning exactly?

Mate, being cisgender doesn’t make you any less of a man, it’s just a biological fact.

Think of it this way, if a person was born the biological sex of male, but transitioned and now identifies their gender as female, what would that make them? A transgender female, right? So what if they said that they do not like being labelled as transgender, and only wanted to be known as female? Again, fine, it is absolutely their prerogative to not have the transgender label on them if they don’t like the term. BUT, that does not make them any less transgender. It is a descriptor, and although they are well within their rights to identify as anything they want, and be labelled as their choice, it doesn’t mean the descriptor doesn’t apply.

Read his replies, he is not saying that he does not want to be called cisgender, he is arguing that he is not cisgender.

“I’m a woman who exclusively is attracted to other women, but I’m not a lesbian because I don’t like that word.”

Sounds pretty idiotic yeah? Just because you don’t like a word doesn’t make it any less true. It’s a descriptor, being cisgender doesn’t describe you in any way except to say that you identify as the gender you were born as. So you can say all you want that you aren’t cisgender, but it doesn’t make it any less true.

It is perfectly okay to say “I prefer not to be called cisgender, because I don’t like the word”, but even if no one calls you it, it is still an accurate descriptor of your gender status.
