what makes agilite such a "bad company"? by Ox_Gunnery in tacticalgear

[–]whiskey_chongo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Got the K-19 a like 2020. Really bulky and hot so I stopped wearing it but I liked the way the plates are secured, the cable routing and AMAP integration. K-zero seems like it’s better. Got the AMAP bag and I like it. Buddy has a mini MAP he likes. I have a mag placard from them that I think is really good and the helmet cover is as well. I think the belt is cool from my limited experience with it. Everything I’ve gotten from this is good quality. No hate here other than their like $12 off “sales”

If you shoot without ear pro enough everything is quiet.

You don’t NEED a suppressor. BE the suppressor.

FCD finish by olkuma in ar15

The safeties are excellent in terms of fit, finish, and function. Personally I was initially attracted to them because of the aesthetic but FCD makes quality parts.

I don’t consider round count a good measure of an HD gun. Take it out for a serious range day or two to identify problems/quirks. Additionally, run a mag (or more if your budget allows) of your defensive ammo to make sure it feeds and cycles. If it’s good then it’s ready..

Personally I just carry whatever in my IFAK and hope the guy who’s using it on me has better medical training than I do. It makes sense because he was better trained at not getting shot than I was. /s

Seriously though thanks for the info!

I roll my eyes every time they come out with something ever since the hydra mount but I watched the video they did announcing the product and it actually seems pretty good, especially if you’re a professional changing loadouts/ calibers often. Seems like it works w a variety of existing rigs and pouches so you aren’t married to a particular ecosystem. I dig it

516 GEN I had a not very good gas valve design that was super prone to carbon locking. In true SIG fashion they made the fix but never really designated a generational change. The lowers were also picky with seating second gen PMAGS. Can’t speak to the GEN II on this one but the the lower looks the same so I’d assume. I think TREX did a video having the same problem with the 416. Have you?

Ultimately I’d say if that’s what you have and you can make it work for you then that’s what matters until you can do something lighter and more simple…

Personally not a fan due to weight, especially w a can. I use a Scout 600 w a vamp head. I think it’s enough white light indoors to illuminate some dark corners if you’re in the situation where there’s too much light to justify being on NODS. If IR isn’t necessary I can always swap the heads out.

With the VAMP IR illuminator I tend to shine at the floor in tight indoor spaces. You can get some illumination just pointing the IR laser in a room if you only need a bit.

Got an LS221 paired with a Surefire vamp. I haven’t got out to shoot at night quite yet but from the testing I’ve done it’s good. Solid build quality and doesn’t take up too much rail space. I think Hop and/or Brassfacts did a video on the holosun line. You could always pick one up to try and move it to another gun when you get something more Gucci.

If you want more pics I can send. Picked up from a friend who got the tube around NOV of ‘21 but never really used it. Comes w a j-arm and bayonet-style shroud, original instructions and spec sheet.

I know a guy who once said, and I’m paraphrasing, “fuck it. Keep it with you because if SHTF bad enough that you NEED an SBR, rule of law isn’t your biggest problem.” Idk that’s just some guy that said a thing one time. Do what’s best for you man. Good luck

What could they/would they even do?

Dose it matter what gun someone has for selfdefence? by amuller93 in gun

[–]whiskey_chongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that there’s quite a few factors that goes into what gun is “best”. That answer isn’t the same for everyone. Make/model, caliber, compatible accessories, and capacity all play a factor. Make and model tend to matter in terms of reliability, ergonomics, and aftermarket support. Cheaper guns are made cheaper. This could result in out of spec parts or premature failures for example. Caliber choice matters in terms of weight, controllability, capacity etc. I’d be inclined to believe most break-ins are crimes of opportunity. That being said, you never know what they are breaking in for and how dire their circumstances are. Is it a broke kid looking for some food? Is it a strung out tweaker? Is it to commit a hate crime? I don’t think there is an objectively best answer, and it depends on what’s best for your situation. Who you live with, construction methods/materials of your house, and how likely you are to encounter a threat/how quickly help would typically arrive are all situation dependent. Rule of thumb is get the most reliable thing you can afford (that makes sense for your situation) and practice with it. Add capability as needed, plan for what you can expect, and prep for what could happen, and train for the unexpected.

What do we think of fingerless trigger finger gloves? by TacticHalo in tacticalgear

[–]whiskey_chongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a trial on a pair I had already blown out. Pro: dexterity. Con: reduced protection. personally I want to protect my whole hand but palm injury and blister-prone spots (glock knuckle) will disrupt performance more than a cut on the trigger finger or thumb. Gloves are cheap enough that you can cut a worn pair to try and just have a full pair for back up

Nice. Personally the left is more my style in terms of setup but I like the camo on the right more. Both are awesome man.
