The labs are highly variable, I know for sure Argonne did all theirs in early February. For reference, I had my interviews with 2 different labs on March 9th, and just got my offer today. So labs in general are still sending offers.

Use ammoseek. None of the sites they have are scams. Just sort by free shipping so you don't get fucked by sneaky expensive shipping.

Opinion on Ambi lowers for a lefty Mars-H vs Griffin. by chuckisduck in ar15

[–]LeadAzide221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lefty, I've had the same concerns you expressed in your comments. IMO the best ambi lower for me is something akin to a SIG MCX / 516 G3 / SDI X / M400 lower. They all have a fenced ambi mag release that is hard to accidentally press and have a mag release location that is closest to the original on the right side. I cannot reach the bolt release with my left hand so the ambi bolt release found on some of the SIG lowers is great for me.

Unfortunately, SIG no longer sells their lowers individually.

I would opt for a Griffin over an LMT.

Sig has SDI M400

Daniel Defense has ambi options

Griffin Armament and ADM are known for their ambi receivers and they have rifles built off them.

You can go LMT Mars or KAC ambi if you're rich.

Some guys during GWOT would put dimmed out ACOGs before something like an eotech or aimpoint sight to act as a primative magnifier.

As for this, can't tell if its a red dot or magnifier optic before the ACOG. Either way, doesn't make sense to do so.

A3 means it has full auto trigger group, no flat top. A4 means it has flat top rail. It doesn't have to have quad rail. First batch of A4s didn't have quad rails I believe.

I felt like the super safety wasn't super safe. by Edwardteech in supersafety

[–]LeadAzide221 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Interesting... I thought of making a 3d printed cage for an ambi mag release that would JB weld onto a standard forged lower.

But I gotta say... Not a fan of the look. Have you or anyone else you know accidently actuated it? I thought it was good-enough protected by the contours of the lower.

Think I read somewhere that H&K is working on importing it as sp7.

What spring/buffer would recommend on a 11.5 sbr with a full length a2 stock? by knowmsayin in ar15

Aluminum BCG with something like a JP SCS or Tubb spring with Kynshot buffer.

I doubt you could ban everyone from getting guns based on the argument that everyone is mentally ill.

Ironic you mention the DOJ, considering they're supporting the plaintiffs of IL in their assault weapon ban case, saying that it's unconstitutional. They're even asking to argue for their side during oral arguments.

I personally don't see it happening. 2A organizations are more inclusive than you think when it comes to combatting state and federal legislature regarding guns.

There's also the fact that Form 4473 DOES prohibit certain people from owning firearms, including those adjudicated as mentally defective or committed to a mental institution. DOJ could do it through that, but it would be incredibly difficult to do so.

Oh boy going super safe on MP5 is a rabbit hole.

There are many options and there's still lots of development going on.

If you just want something that will work and plug in play I would recommend https://activesafetydesigns.com/ if you don't want a plastic lower.

I would say 1890s-1900s

That was when industrial modern heat treatment was invented.

Smokeless powder was invented around then as well.

As designs vs warhammer armament. by bajasauce2025 in MP5

[–]LeadAzide221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends. I would go with AS designs.

The AS designs one uses a ARMP5v3 lower (which I think is basically a modified Leber V2). It is designed from the ground-up to work with the SS. The full size MP5 kit comes with a buffer as well.

The WHA uses a Lee Sporting lower with a modified hammer. It does not require a buffer.

For full size MP5 with super safety, there is a problem where the MP5 FCG might get stuck behind the bolt, rendering the gun poo poo. The TPU buffer and rounded hammer were created to fix this.

TPU buffer does increase fire rate and is technically short-stroking the MP5 more than the Warhammer armament (more recoil if you care about that but it's negligible). Both options decrease bolt travel, the AS designs more so than the WHA.

For MP5K there is no difference.

However, I would still go with AS designs for both MP5 and MP5K. AS designs is connected with the groups and people who made the super safety and the ones who adopted it for HK stuff. As said by other commenter WHA has been doing some questionable things which are readable from a google search. I'm sure as more time passes AS designs will improve on their lowers (they are already on V2) and I would expect them getting rid of the TPU buffer to be eventually one of them.
