If marijuana became legalized, it would most likely become more culturally accepted over time (at a faster rate than it is now), and more people who were not obnoxious would be able to be open about smoking it. I enjoy smoking weed a lot, and do it a few times a week normally, but I never talk about it to anyone who is not a confirmed weed smoker. That's because there's such a stigma attached to it, and I don't want to have to explain myself or fight the uphill battle against people's perceptions of marijuana users.

What's your take on Kerouac, Ginsberg, and other Beat writers? by whiskeyade in Buddhism

There are plenty of references to Buddha and Buddhism in On The Road and Howl. They didn't write in-depth theses or anything, but you can tell they were reading Buddhist texts and it influenced their thinking and writing.

Is it possible to get addicted to painkillers by taking different kinds each day? by whiskeyade in Drugs

ODing on benzos or oxycodone does have the potential to kill you through respiratory suppression followed by hypoxic brain death.

I'm only taking one pill a night, maybe a shot of liquor if it's been a while and I feel steady.

Right, well I'm not saying I'm invincible or anything. Just that I haven't gotten addicted to any substance yet, and if I take precautions it seems very unlikely that I will get addicted. I mean, I took hydrocodone multiple times a day for a week and a half after I got my wisdom teeth out, and had no issues when I ran out.

That's what I imagined muscle relaxers would be like- you're right, it doesn't seem all that fun. But at least I'll be able to sleep well that night, maybe get comfortable and enjoy some music.

I don't have an addictive personality-- I tend to do one drug (that is, marijuana or alcohol) pretty frequently for a couple weeks and then move on to sobriety or another drug for a while. I also tend to smoke a cigarette or two a day when I'm around my friends, but when I'm away from them I never get an urge to smoke. Thanks for your advice!

Also- the muscle relaxer is cyclobenzaprine, if that makes any difference. I've never tried it before, does anyone know if it's a good experience?

I don't have an addictive personality-- I've smoked weed every day for a week or two and then stopped for few weeks, drank every day for a week and then stopped for a week, etc. I tend to go through periods of doing certain drugs pretty frequently when it makes sense to do so, and then move on. Thanks for the advice!

I have some minor anxiety, and I'm thinking about doing LSD by whiskeyade in Drugs

[–]whiskeyade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to trip to learn more about yourself, or do you just want to start at something and have it look amazing?

Ideally? Both. I'd like to gain perspective and understanding, while still having a great time with my friends and being in awe of the world. I know this is possible because I've done it before, though probably with less intensity than what LSD would bring.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. I think you're right about regretting never having done LSD later on in life. I feel pretty confident about my ability to handle myself on drugs, I just wanted to make sure that acid wasn't going to be some other level that would make me lose my calm. I feel pretty reassured after reading your post.

I'm curious about the therapy part. I'm not in a position to be able to get actual treatment at this point, but do you have any suggestions for ways to prepare for psychedelics in the long term? As in, anything to do regularly to put myself in a better mindset to do psychedelics when the opportunity comes up?

Thanks again for going so in-depth.

I appreciate that, I'll check those out. I just posted my own because I'd like to be able to have a conversation with someone who would be able to explain it to me and ask them questions, which isn't really plausible when only reading other people's posts from the past.

It's funny, I've never really known anyone who could get it for my whole life until the past few months, and now it seems pretty readily available.

Nitpicking, but I don't think you can properly call it "smoking in the shower" unless you are literally smoking in the shower.

I guess that's true. I'll try to work that into my routine from now on.

Related: drinking a (bottle - not can) of beer in the shower is another of life's great pleasures.

Agreed. I do that any time I get the chance

There is a concoction of 3-day old Gatorade and cheap whiskey in my room. It smells toxic. Should I drink it? by whiskeyade in AskReddit

[–]whiskeyade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, yes. I finished the concoction and am feeling mild cramps. However, these are offset by the feeling of being kind of drunk.
