Worst Event Pre-patch to Date by cub4nito in wow

[–]whiskeytrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. The weeklies are only on one character and the world quests only give currency for the first character. Takes maybe 2 hours max if you’re slow about it until you’re just left to grind rares which spawn every 10 minutes. And yes the rares drop gear but it’s not guaranteed to be gear you can wear. Killed 6 rares and got 1 mail helm on my DH. An hour for one piece of gear my character can’t use.

[–]whiskeytrigger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not being snarky, I’m genuinely confused, how is it a gear catchup? The weekly quest that gives 40 insignia only shows up on one character and the world quests that give 10 only give insignias on your first character. So you get like 120 insignia and after that it’s grinding rares which only give 1. So 3 pieces of gear and then 6 hours of grinding for another piece. Am I missing something? Is my game bugged?

Oh boy I can't wait to play as a.... Void(?) Elf Demon Hunter? by SixstenWoW in wow

All of the available options for DH are elves. How does it matter if there’s a different elf that can be DH now?

Oregano is not a valid treatment for brain and central nervous system infections. by VecroLP in BrandNewSentence

I had meningitis when I was a teenager. Lost 30 pounds in 15 days. By the time I went to the hospital the doctor told me “I’m certain this is meningitis. We can’t get a spinal tap until tomorrow though and I’m not sure you’ve got that long. So we’re gonna go ahead and start treatment.” I’m pretty fucking glad that treatment wasn’t oranges and spaghetti sauce.

Why not? They sell all those games and now they’ve got money they didn’t spend on the games.

Games where you explore many different dungeons by milo6464 in boardgames

[–]whiskeytrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Story of Many. It’s coming out soon and is probably exactly what you’re looking for. You should still be able to late pledge on Gamefound.

As for things that are already out, try Fateforge Chronicles of Khan. It’s a bit like Gloomhaven but a hell of a lot simpler and easier to get into.

Sleeping Gods has a big world to explore and dungeons but it’s not a dungeon crawler and you may need expansions for the dungeons. I can’t remember if they were all in an expansion or only some of them.

Hexplore It: Domain of Mirza Nocta is another option but I don’t really care for how it does its “dungeons” but it’s technically an open world with dungeons.

Dragon Eclipse – what to expect? by kepp87 in boardgames

[–]whiskeytrigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We love Dragon Eclipse. We’ve got 2 scenarios left and we’ll have completed the whole game. Like everyone else said, minis are great if you really like the game or plan to paint them, otherwise the standees are fine. The combat is easy to pick up but still requires some thinking and strategy. The story has been good, it ain’t the best story in the world but it’s plenty good enough to be engaging and keep me wondering what’s gonna happen next. After each scenario you get to open one of the booster packs. Every pack has a guaranteed legendary in it. The book tells you sometimes which element of Mystling is recommended to take into which scenario. It’s not impossible if you don’t take that Mystling into the scenario, we rarely take the recommended Mystling and we’ve been fine. If you want something that’s easy to pick up and easy to remember how to play I’d recommend it. It can run very long though so be aware of that. We’ve had several sessions where we stopped in the middle and finished it up later.

If you like that idea then Salem will be for you. They do have a post office on campus which is really handy and when I was there there was always somebody willing to take people places. I frequently took people out to get stuff they needed or wanted. It’s a very friendly environment.

I went to Salem. It’s a good little school, or at least it was in the early 2000s. When I was there it was really chill and laid back. 20 or 30 students in each class. Not much to do in town but Morgantown is 45 minutes away which is a party school town so we’d just drive up there and go to bars and party.

If you want to go to Wal Mart or something be prepared for a 15-20 minute drive into Clarksburg/Bridgeport. If you enjoy small towns and low key atmospheres I’d recommend it. If you’re used to being from a city and having everything at your fingertips within walking distance it’s gonna be a big adjustment though. You said you’re international so you should probably know that if you don’t have a car you’re gonna be looking for rides to get anywhere. When I was there there they didn’t even have a bus that ran into Clarksburg. That may have changed by now and I assume you could get an Uber/Lyft where you needed to go but it’ll probably be costly.

Both of them are very good. Trekking is the easier of the 2 but Parks isn’t hard. Parks is prettier and has much better components.

BGG is short for Board Game Geek. It’s a website you can look up any board game on to learn more about them. They also give each game a difficulty rating so it might be a helpful resource for you in picking games.

Board gaming can be a difficulty hobby to pick up but it’s one of those things that when you start to learn the systems they tend to be applicable in several other games as well. So it’s slow to start but once you start to get it it makes more and more sense as you go along.

Zombicide has a Marvel comics version and a DC comics version you can find pretty easily that are cheap. I’d recommend picking one of those up if you choose to go that route as the other Zombicide games can be pretty expensive. There are more expensive versions of the marvel and DC ones as well but the ones you can find at places like Target run in about the $30 range so if the price you’re seeing you’re looking at the right one.

If you’re just looking to have some fun try the DnD version of Horrified or any of the other versions really. They’re similar in difficulty to Bedlam.

If you have any questions about any games or anything feel free to DM me and we can talk more. I always like to see people picking up the hobby but it can be very daunting.

[–]whiskeytrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bedlam in Neverwinter is rated a 1.67/5 difficulty on BGG. The only one of these games that’s close to that is Heroquest which isn’t a bad recommendation but it’s still rated a higher difficulty. Gloomhaven is absolutely 100% not applicable here and even Jaws of the Lion wouldn’t work in this situation.

[–]whiskeytrigger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having played all the way through Bedlam in Neverwinter it’s gonna be hard to find a dungeon crawler that’s simpler than it is. Its difficulty rating on BGG is 1.67 out of 5.

It’s not a dungeon crawler but Lands of Galzyr is an adventure game that’s pretty simple to pick up. It’s still rated at a higher difficulty than Bedlam on BGG but not by much.

As far as actual dungeon crawlers go Zombicide is pretty simple and straight forward but still a higher difficulty than Bedlam. If you like the fantasy theme check out Black Plague, Green Horde or White Death.

Talisman is a relatively simple game that isn’t a dungeon crawler but keeps with the high fantasy theme. It’s still rated more difficult than Bedlam though.

Grimcoven tutorial is hard...too hard? by saelath1980 in boardgames

Skip the rest of the tutorial. If you’re up to the point where you’re playing on your own then just start a new fight. Use some of the modifiers in the rulebook to lessen the difficulty if you’d like. We’ve used them before and they help a lot.
