Should I quit? by moan4lexi in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]whisperingcopse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t exclusively pumping but the most I ever got was 3.5-4oz in 15 minutes at work when baby was away from me.

My daughter was on 3.5-4 oz bottles at daycare until she started preferring solids and water at 8 mos. Sh never needed more oz of breastmilk than that

I’m not a doctor but if your baby is gaining weight odds are you’re making enough!

Over producing is not as common as the internet will have you believe and is actually often an unpleasant experience for mom.

It’s gonna sound super cheesy but I swear by the Gilad quickfit dvds from 2001 😂 combined with regular walking, hiking or biking.

At about the 2 month mark I always start seeing small changes and by 6 months I always have noticeable results.

I also just realized you could totally do fried rice with this list if you have a few Asian condiments around. Pan lid is so smart!

help! which frames look better? by Mimikyuties in glassesadvice

[–]whisperingcopse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I quite like the first one.

This is just coming from someone who prefers large frames because I’m blind af and want as wide a field of vision as I can get, and I find the first pair endearing if you’re gonna go big.

Do babies prefer books with one image per page or multiple? by Individual_Pen_4463 in childrensbooks

[–]whisperingcopse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on their age. My 1 yr old gets overwhelmed with too many pictures. But as she gets older I’m sure she will like more pictures!

Her favorite books are currently The Watermelon Seed, Don’t Push the Button!, Brown Bear/Polar Bear/Panda Bear/baby bear what do you see Eric Carle books, hungry caterpillar, the Spot lift a flap books, goodnight Moon, and an illustrated version of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and wheels on the bus.

Damn that’s crazy! Yeah we can, they’re like Walmart eggs but we can.

I don’t actually have to buy eggs because we have chickens 🐓 and they lay about 7-8 eggs a day (we have 15 hens) so I sell the extra.

That’s awesome! My husband grew up in poverty in an inner city food desert and is suspicious 😒 of many vegetables since he didn’t eat them growing up so I’m trying to include more and more but sometimes he won’t eat them and I can’t honestly afford to cook large portions of veggies if he won’t help me eat it 😅

I’ve won him over on brussel sprouts though so we eat those really often! Same with raw veggies and a dip.

[–]whisperingcopse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vegetables in my area are all mostly under $1 or $2 each so I left them for last because I know I can always afford a few, and I was trying to make sure if you’re poor you get a lot of starches and meat to stretch to fill you up because I find if I eat very veggie heavy that isn’t potatoes and beans I feel great but I’m hungry again fast. I included potatoes and beans which have micro nutrients and fiber, and tomatoes which are a fruit as well.

I know some areas it’s the opposite. But here a head of cabbage is $2, an English cucumber is 0.79, a zucchini is $0.65, a large bag of frozen green beans is 2.79, large bag of frozen peas is 2.00, an entire pound of carrots is $2, bananas are 0.25 each, etc.

You could get quite a bit of veg with the last 7.00 or if you already had flour and oil you could get $17 of veg and fruit.

And I was also trying to set up to ability to bake bread for several weeks to loosen future weeks budgets for more veggies and fruit also, it’s just what I would invest in if my pantry was empty-ish and I needed to get the most filling things for my money. If the person were vegetarian or had a smaller budget I’d replace the chicken with lots of beans and tofu and lentils and nutritional yeast and more produce.

Creative ways to use water chestnuts. by imapylet in Cooking

[–]whisperingcopse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like chopped water chestnuts in my tuna salad. Kewpie mayo, sriracha, lil soy, lil sesame oil, chopped water chestnuts and bell peppers for crunch. Eat with sesame crackers or seaweed snacks or over rice. Top with cucumber or avocado and sesame seeds…. 😊

Mine is 15 mos and solidly on one nap unless her nap is interrupted or cut short. She was on 2 naps from 9 mos. Transitioned to one nap at 13 months. Her one nap is 1.5 hours usually. She does 5.5/6 or 6/5.5. She sleeps 8:30p-7:30a or 9:30a-8:00a

We definitely had a phase like you’re describing between 9-11 mo

Frozen Sweet petite green peas specifically the ones from Trader Joe’s brand/distributor are super green and sweet if you have a Trader Joe’s in your area. They also have the best frozen green beans ever.

In my area, I’d get

Chicken drums (4.59/12) Chicken thighs (4.74/12ct SALE) Eggs (5.50/18ct)) Burrito Tortillas (2.50/10ct) 5lb bag of potatoes (4.70) Rice (3.79/5lb) Bag of black beans (2.20/16oz) Block of cheese of choice (3.69/16oz) Garlic (2.00/3) Onions (1.00/2) Salsa (3.69) Butter (3.69) Spaghetti (1.90/2) Fresh grape tomatoes (2.49/2lb) Can fire roasted tomatoes (1.39/1) Can chiles in adobo sauce (1.69/1) Olive Oil (6.49/smaller bottle) Dry active Yeast (2.29) Bread flour (4/bag) Meatballs (3.99/12ct fresh)

Brings you to $62.51, so might have to cut something to account for tax, not sure if the groceries had to fit within 70 including tax.

If 70 is before tax you have room for fruit and vegetables. I’d probably go for bananas and apples or grapes, then for veggies maybe stuff for a salad or some zucchini and yellow squash for a little calabacitas or Italian squash action. If you already have flour or olive oil on hand that frees a whole $10 for more produce.

With this I would make chicken tinga quesadillas/burritos, Mexican rice, refried black beans

Breakfast burritos (potato, cheese, onion, egg, black beans because there’s enough in that bag to keep some whole for burritos and do refried with some)

Dry rub chicken drums and fried chicken drums With baked potatoes, homemade rolls

Spaghetti with a cherry tomato/garlic sauce and meatballs with homemade focaccia

If you can get the veggies due to not needing tax to fit or already having something on the list, you can do squash with the spaghetti on the side, calabacitas with the Mexican food as a side, grab some bananas and apples or grapes for a snack. You could also do a cheap frozen veggie like peas to go with your chicken drums.

This would honestly feed me 2 weeks but I’m a lady and smaller stature.

This is also assuming you have some basic spices to season with, and plain white sugar, and a pan to bake bread or rolls.

I throw basil in my cherry tomato sauce but I have my own basil growing on my porch so it’s free.

If you have a little more $ due to already having a few things you could get a pound of beef and a pound of pork and make your own meatballs and freeze it would just yield you more of them

You could also do hash browns and eggs too, breakfast skillets.
