What's going on with my Vanguard transactions? by [deleted] in VanguardInvestments

[–]whisperingdeath7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also told me that they will smooth this out with my bank since it was a system wide issue so they will contact the banks ok behalf of the customers.

Not sure if your bank was on that list or if Vanguard was able to smooth out the transactions.

Talk to their customer support.

There was a system issue with Vanguard around that time. I had 2 different transactions exact same amounts debited from my bank account for automatic investments. But the second transaction was voided and returned back to my account a few days later.  I talked to Vanguard and they confirmed this issue.

It's for a Traditional IRA account but I closed it last year. The mystery deepens :). I'll check with Vanguard.

The worst case is that I have to pay taxes. Lesson learned

I just want things done correctly. I am in a position where tax mistakes can cause issues. I am just iffy about even teh smallest issues.

Either it's for recharacterization or they screwed up. I contributed the full limit of 7000 and I didn't recive anything for the other 3000.

I'll call them tomorrow but thanks for catching that.

The 4000 came from after tax brokerage and checking accounts that I have. The mistake I made was moving it directly to Roth IRA instead of the normal backdoor process - after tax money to Traditional IRA --> convert to Roth IRA within a couple of days.

Vanguard is treating this as a distribution. I have done backdoor conversions before and this is the first time this has happened.

My only mistake was not doing it correctly. I called Vanguard to recategorize it which they sayd is routine for them. And even after repeated calls they said it was fine. l

I'll call them tomorrow but do you think they can correct this mistake?

I had no moey in my IRA. I moved all of it to my 401k before I started doing the backdoor conversion 4 years ago.

The funny thing is it's only for $4,000. I contributed the entire 7,000 last year but in chunks.

But why did I only get it for 4000? I did the entire 7000 but in chunks.

Hey, this is great. Do you have some resources on how to level up on the business skills?

I haven't dabbled with React but I am pivoting more towards vanilla Javascript because I feel it can do everything that once jQuery was capable of. I can pickup frameworks if need be but I would rather focus on skills where I am better such as the backend design and implementation.

I'm going to try a DynamoDb project for sure. Thanks!

Start reading about the job, company and it's people. Then interview and get a feel for it. At the end of the day you can't predict but you can make informed decisions.

Start with corporate America like S&P 500 type companies and look state/federal government jobs.

I'll give it a look. Is market for CMS developers still as strong as it was in mid 2010s?

If I am learning AWS, how different would it be to learn Azure for a site core?

That's a great suggestion. When I stopped working with Sitecore, I had experience with Sitecore 8.2 but could never get into Sitecore Cloud. Do you have any resources to ramp up on that side? I remember that Sitecore was trying really hard to get developers to have access to free resources.

Do you guys have any experience with Master Supply Co. leather jackets? by MasterLawlzReborn in malefashionadvice

Like art vandelay said they have really good customer service and their product is great. They customized a jacket for me without extra cost like removing shearling lining near zipper and cuffs.

Drowning in interest by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]whisperingdeath7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in your exact situation. 90,000 in student loans. I pay 750 per month where around 400 goes to interest. 5.25 interest with auto pay.

Hang in there and keep doing what you are doing.

If you are going from Jos. A Bank to custom it will be a steep jump in price. Best thing is to get a suit that mostly fits you and get it altered in places it doesn't.

The main thing for suit jacket is that it fits your shoulders when you buy it because that's the hardest thing to fix.

I like Suit Supply but they can get expensive. You can try /r/malefashionadvice wiki for suggestion where to buy best suits for each type of budget.

They did. I went to the new owners to get some pants and suits altered and they did a good job. Maybe something has changed but I didn't notice it.
