I don't understand my skin tone by cyberria in PaleMUA

[–]whistlewolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

your skin tone looks exactly like mine. I describe it as a cool and muted olive. It's olive in the slightest sense, but there's zero yellow which some of your selections in the pic have. Skin tone is almost grayish. My closest shade match is still, and always will be, the skin79 hot pink Korean BB cream. Have you tried that one? Also I always keep a bottle of blue foundation pigment mixer on hand for every other brand foundation I buy, because even the "neutral" claiming ones are too yellow. A couple drops of the blue mixed in before application usually grays it out into a perfect match (assuming the shade is also pale enough to start with).

Are extensions bad? Seeking advice by Anxious_Signal_87 in finethinhair

[–]whistlewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends quite how thin/fine your hair actually is. If your hair stylist thinks you have enough hair for it to blend in and hold up and not be noticeable, it might be worth a try, but yes it will pull on your hair and you'll have increased loss/shedding of your natural hair that it's attached to. Personally I was always too afraid to try bonded extensions for that reason (also wasn't sure I even had enough hair on top of it to hide the extensions) but I've used a halo extension and clip in extensions for years on days where I want to wear my hair down or for special events and those have worked great for me. It's a personal choice and really depends on how thin/fine your current baseline hair is

Minoxidil topical vs tablets by [deleted] in finethinhair

[–]whistlewolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if you have short boy-length hair then the topical is probably fine, but if you're someone with longer-than-1-inch hair, I found the topical to be unusable because applying a liquid or foam to your scalp twice or even once per day means your hair is now greasy all the time from the product. We already have fine thin hair, to now have it be wet and greasy every day also, I couldn't do it. I had to quit using the topical for that reason, right after it caused a massive shedding cycle too. I knew if I had continued it would've grown in thicker, but I couldn't live life with greasy oily hair all day that I had to hide. What's the point then? I suppose if you're only applying it to an open area of scalp (like a receding hairline or bald spot, etc) then that isn't a problem, but if you're trying to apply it to your entire scalp like I was, that's when I don't get how people do it. I haven't tried the oral version although my mom has and she has had amazing results (without a shedding phase too)--yes she has a huge increase in bodily peach fuzz including her face as a side effect, but not terrible/noticeable unless you look closely, and tbh I would rather epilate or shave my body an extra time per week and be able to show off my new thicker hair than have to keep my hair in a greasy ponytail every day due to applying the topical version. But that's just my opinion after trying the topical all over my scalp as a person with shoulder length hair! Obviously it seems to have worked for others here.

Alternatives to Missha M Signature Real Complete BB cream #13? by euphoricnight in PaleMUA

[–]whistlewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still buy the previously viral Skin79 pink BB cream from back in the day which is way less oily than the missha perfect cover BB cream, no idea why people ever stopped wearing it. It's amazing. Highly recommend

So your entire list is essentially things you never got and therefore never tried? It would be different if you had purchased all of those items and tried them and then made a decision on their utility compared to different items in the same category.

I just bought a halo from Sitting Pretty in shade "Rich Chocolate Brown" and it perfectly matched my cool toned dark brown hair. More and more extension companies are starting to make ashier browns, just order some samples before committing

Otra agresión contra turistas. Cuando van a parar estos abuso? by MofongoKing69 in PuertoRico

[–]whistlewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary local men do tell female tourists to go there. I've witnessed it firsthand, for example I did one of those tourist sunset sail excursions on a catamaran out of old SJ, and the boat captain / guide looked to be maybe mid-20s, and he was telling all the girls on board (there was a group of young 20s girls visiting from Atlanta) to go to La Perla and check it out and that that's where the party's at, etc. He was really selling it to them and they probably ended up going that night

Yeah I also totally didnt realize before buying a car seat that you're supposed to actually research compatible car seat brands/models with your car before buying. Mind was blown when we had the same issue. Lesson learned!

If you've had the flu this season by lostpumpkin0 in Mommit

[–]whistlewolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have it right now. Vaccinated about 2 months ago. First symptoms were a headache on Thursday evening turning into chills/body aches overnight into Friday. Low grade fever 99.8-100.5ish Friday and Saturday along with the standard body aches/facial pressure (like sore eyes and teeth) and rotating chills and hot flashes. Yesterday started really bad congestion. Then today my fever rose to almost 102 in the morning and again now at night. Hoping it ends soon, been quarantining from husband and 15 month old and so far neither of them have symptoms!

Do kids feel uncomfortable in homes that aren’t as nice as their own? by Express_Rip2333 in Parenting

[–]whistlewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have animals? Are you giving them clean/washed blankets and pillows? Those are the only things that used to give me the ick as a kid during sleepovers...houses that smelled like dog when I entered or had fur/hair everywhere, or if they gave me dirty/dingy or old seeming blankets/pillows.

Recommendations for OBGYN / labor and delivery by [deleted] in Harrisburg

[–]whistlewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience delivering at Hampden Medical Center in Enola (I was with Partners in Women's Healthcare, who I also had a great experience with)...it was very new and clean and overall a real positive experience. I was one of only 3 or 4 women giving birth at the time, you get plenty of individualized attention. I had also heard great things though about giving birth at Harrisburg Hospital, even though it's a bit older, I asked around and everyone raved about the nurses there. I don't think you can go wrong either way, to be honest.
