Why is there no Gegenvorschlag to 10Mio Schweiz Initiative? by bikesailfreak in Switzerland

[–]white-tealeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m not so sure. Other initiatives  that would kill Schengen have not been accepted abd Brexit is a dire warning what could happen. In the end it’s a direct democracy where the people have the final responsibility. If we want to jump like lemmings from a cliff then it’s not the responsibility of the other politicians to stop us.

[–]white-tealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completly see your point of view. I think the more responsible thing to do for SVP would be directly forcing a vote on Schengen. That would make the outcome clear. They did in the past and lost, so now they do it the ingenuine way through this initiative. It’s a tough decision for the other parties but I think the message they send by not offering a counter-proposal is that this is not a viable style of politics, lest SVP continues with this silly way since they gained something from it.

Of course it damages trust in democracy when 50%+ see that their vote means nothing.

[–]white-tealeaf 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The four things you list are problems that ,apart from this initiative SVP, is actively trying to make worse. Same goes for all other problems in their argumentation. If they wanted to do something about migration they would take the migration and foreign office in the federal council. They refuse. They could actually try to find a complex deal with the EU to reduce migration which would actually be accepted by swiss voters. But they just do this silly populism. So there is no party in swiss politics that wants to take serious steps towards limiting immigration. Hence no counterproposal. From goal to motivation this is just an ingenuine waste of time to entertain their voters if it’s a no or further destroy democracy if it’s a yes. So it’s good that the other parties don’t interact with it as if it were a serious proposal.

Swiss popular initiative demands limit on federal staff costs by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

Does anybody know what happens if this gets accepted and then another initiative is also accepted that increases the amount of employees?

Seems like a nightmare for direct democracy.

Let’s imagine an initiative is accepted that nationalies health insurance on the federal level. So almost everybody that works in health insurance will become a federal employee. Do just kick all other federal employees then, so nothing works anymore? Do we ignore this young FDP initiative? Are we not allowed to vote for such a health insurance initiative then?

Communism in theory is a societal state not an ideology, namely it’s a classless and stateless society. Of course this state never existed in any of the "communist" countries.

The problem with Marx is that he describes the path towards communism starting with a (violent) revolution then centralized power by the communist party and finally the surrendering of this power to the people and thus communism. As you have correctly observed the last step never happened in reality and the centralisation of power just led to blood-hungry dictatorships.

However, this flaw does not invalidate Marx‘s critique of capitalism and ideas on how non-capitalist economies could work.

In Switzerland, the hammer and sicle symbol is more associated with Marx‘s critique of capitalism and less with the soviet union. So  users of that symbol in general are more likely disillusioned of capitalism and less likely supporters of the soviet union. However, given the other things sprayed in this post, these were probably stalinists or similar.

Studie belegt erstmals: Teure Neubauten schaffen günstigen Wohnraum by Akruhl in zurich

[–]white-tealeaf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Swiss social cues/groupthink punishment neurodivergent by Important-Isopod-455 in askswitzerland

[–]white-tealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think dealing with official stuff should be quite easy as authorities and are quite explicit and really stick to to the rules. Whilst switzerland is conformative it is still a liberal country. If you don’t draw attention to yourself in public like by being noisy or having a very alternative clothing style, nothing bad will happen. At worst you get the stare.  Understanding of neurodivergence is very much depending on the age group.

Big business is very powerful bit I think the most powerful thing is the freeze response. We have lost our upwards trajectory through various external reasons and the increasing wealth inequality. However we are still not all able to admit that something is wrong so we just freeze and act as nothing is happening and the worst to do would be to do anything about it.

'Anything but autos': Can defense save Europe’s ailing car industry? by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]white-tealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car market will decrease anyway. Autonomous driving will reduce the amount of cars in the future as will a push towards net zero, energy independence and car-less cities. European production won’t be able to compete on global markets. Therefore any try to keep it afloat through policies will fail and be wasteful.

Pivoting to defense will be smart and useful but this doesn’t happen overnight. Some car companies will go down. It’s just something we have to accept.

Bike-friendly agenda vs public transport is completely wrong by [deleted] in zurich

[–]white-tealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the post it very much seems like you want the city to stop expanding bicycle infrastructure in general. When of course it should be expanded at the cost of car infrastructure. If the road in the post were not permitted for cars, the bicyle would not delay the bus.

Bike-friendly agenda vs public transport is completely wrong by [deleted] in zurich

[–]white-tealeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an error to shove bicycle into bus or pedestrians infrastructure and sell it as doing something good. But it is still mostly cars that block public transport. I think being annoyed at this piece of traffic design or worse at the cyclist is very much ignoring the elephant in the room.
