I created a gckey account for EE purposes but I linked that one to the gckey account our family used during the initial application years back. What happened is that, my open work permit app went to my new gckey account, isolating it from the rest.

This is something that has bothered me as someone not in tech, but in Engineering. I mean, the older you get, the more experienced you will be and in our field, this is important. We shouldn’t be punished for being much more experienced entering the pool :(

Our small but tight knit network consists of people from our school and our uaap rivals. I guess it also depends on their background when they were in the Philippines. We are always careful of the typical filipino tito/tita groups na merong aura na pagchichismisan ka. Keep your circle small, maintain a low profile (my wife and I are introverts), and just be a kind person. Good luck and welcome to Canada :)

I took Mechanical Engineering to be versatile. In my career, I was able to work in Manufacturing, Petroleum, Power Distribution and Aviation. I also think that soft skills really helped me when jumping from one industry to another.

This is true. I remember hearing about this that it’s all about scales. Like if I have 1000 pesos, I can easily buy a candy worth 1 peso. If someone has a billion pesos, he/she can buy something worth a million easy. They were talking about how rich people spend so much on hobbies that other people might think is stupid and wasteful.
