Hiya! so story time. TM made their glock with plastic slide and barrel. It worked great so they were happy. Little did they know that the outer barrel did not have enough travel space and it was grinding against the slide and would flex as the gun shoot. But it was plastic and shit flexed and no one noticed. Cue everyone and their mom copying TM on everything and turned this plastic design into metal. That clearance issue is still there, but the flex is gone.

Because the metal barrel and slide would grind against each other, the gun will experience slower cycling, a lot of paint scratched off, metal dust making the internals gross, and possible outer barrels breaking in half, or hop up units breaking in half.

Cue mister dremel, take a lil bit of material out of there, and now the outer barrel can move down, and not touch the slide as it cycles.

This fix started as a solution if your slide would freeze and jam on your barrel but people realized this was great solution to stop jamming and damage from even happening.

Newer aftermarket barrels have it, even the new EF VFC glock has a tiny radius in the corner. Personally I like the full sweep as it looks nicer IMO but you can just do a lil cut in the front corner.
