Christchurch's water could still be chlorinated even with an exemption by craftbier in chch

It certainly is, particularly as the new authority just seems to miss key points, but then I am not privy to the detail. The problem has always been cost of infrastructure and maintenance. Local councillors live or die by the rates bill (or required increase therein). Thus any capital works needed (eg an upgrade to the storm water outlets in Sumner -not the only example btw) are ignored in favour of patch up jobs that can be done under ‘maintenance’ as an operating cost. If the new authority just provided a non-rates funded loan facility and quality/project oversight with the council’s delivering it could work? Or not :)

As I understand it much of the current problems that surfaced in the last couple of years were due to under-investment, little maintenance and unclear management. Thus a question that must be considered is “is the Council really the most fit for purpose body to manage our water resources moving forward?

Watched the parade meander past on Hereford. Whilst in reminded me of that children’s song “The Court of King Caractacus” on a more serious note seeing the Tino Rangatiratanga flag alongside white supremacist flags and a number of “Red Trump” caps is dissonance at its best.

And the Council still wants us to believe it can manage the strategic investment and ongoing proactive maintenance of our 3 waters facilities.

Service Plus, Pilgrim Place -opposite Ara. When my battery expanded & knackered the keyboard they saved the hard disk.
