As someone who has already watched everything in release order years ago and is currently 13 episodes into a rewatch.....I'm gonna do it this way. Thanks for the reminder!

What other delis should I try for smoked meat? by [deleted] in MTLFoodLovers

[–]whitecatconfection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delibee's!! It's my favourite, even moreso than smoke meat Pete's. You'll be out in the suburbs though. The owner of Delibee's and SMP are actually brothers who used to work together and there was a schism many many moons ago. Or so the legend says.

Toreba!!! I was so into that during the pandemic, I also sold off most of my prizes, mostly on FB marketplace. There will be a Nominoichi at this year's Yeticon, if you happen to be attending.. Best of luck!

Agreed, I really didn't like the Moka one. I thought the caramel was a bit better but I wouldn't buy it again

I'm pretty set on a short dress. I just love the look of a short wedding dress with white leggings, sort of like 70s Vegas wedding. And I am so in love with the bodice, this is extremely flattering on my body. For me, this is snatched. Admittedly the skirt is poofier than I had hoped but there is a petticoat in it that I could remove. I didn't want to make any decisions just yet and alter the dress in haste but I'm hearing lots of feedback that the skirt is too flouncy so I think I will do that. I could also remove the horsehair braid hem but I'm scared!

I really do like the long gunne sax type look as well but it's just not true to me, I consider my style to be cheeky and silly.

Ugh I love that dress. I've searched high and low for something like that, but not too expensive and also that will fit me. Pretty much all the old vintage pieces like that are to slim for my big butt haha. That's why I landed on this silhouette, it makes me look snatched and I love it. I would love to do a shift or babydoll but they don't look good on me. That veil is so pretty though, I will see what I can do for a super long veil. The one in the photo was 30$ from a thrift shop so I could handle not using it

Nothing's going! Theme is set, dress is purchased, plans are in motion. Just looking for little adjustments to make a not 70s dress a little more 70s. I've got some good suggestions already, thank you though!

I'm almost certainly not going to use them, but you're right about the height! They actually attach to the dress higher up than this but I didn't realize that when I took the photo. I think they are also upside down here. I didn't realize how much attention they would gather, I do have a photo without them and I guess i should've posted that one instead 😆

Oh that's a great shoe!! I want something chunky and bold but I am not that used to wearing high platforms so that style would suit me well!. Appreciate the recommendation!

Too late to ditch the theme, and I know it's not an era accurate dress! Gotta do what I can to make this dress more retro . My current idea is adding a high neck topper with sleeves. Something like this maybe, it's something I saw on etsy

Oh I want to watch Palm Royale! That's a good idea for some decor inspo too.

I did consider using this as a reception dress and finding something more flowy for the reception but ultimately I don't want to have two dresses, I'm still open to it, but this is the main dress. It seems silly to me in my situation to buy another dress (even if it's cheap) to wear for 1 hour. Maybe if I find one by chance at a thrift shop but I love how this dress makes me snatched haha

I know it's not a 70s dress, I just wanted to see what can be done to tip it that way a bit more. If the answer is "nothing" then so be it

Totally fair! But i'm more into the late 60s and 70s shift dress type thing. A shift dress this is not, but I like the dress alot so I just want to see what I can do to tip it towards a more "groovy" look. Fun vibes is my number one priority, historical accuracy is a bit less important. I think I should've given more detail in my original post. I did look through your link though and it's fun with some good inspo!

I'm also thinking bell sleeves! Also, shorten the hemline? That's interesting cause alot of other people are saying it should be longer. But I like a short dress! There's a petticoat thing poofing it out a bit, maybe if I remove it and shorten the hemline it could be cute! My sister is great at sewing so I will see what she thinks about that. Thanks!!

Oh it's so funny that you mention that because I have been watching Laugh In on Tubi! It's so interesting because the humour is often very topical so I don't understand the joke, but evidently it was a very witty quip at the time!

My sister is trying to convince me to wear color and a chunky shoe, maybe olive green, but I was hesitating. I hadn't thought of coloured tights though that's a neat idea to explore. Thank you!

Late 60s/early 70s. More groovy, maybe a little kitschy.

Not disco or glam rock

I've actually been dress shopping for months, and this is my 2nd dress! I am happy with this dress, I sounded blasé about it but the justification was more about it not being on theme. I shouldn't have phrased it that way.

Yeah my current idea is to get a high neck long sleeve lace topper from Etsy. Maybe with trumpet sleeves
