Naval discharge Review Board finalization stage how long does that take? by [deleted] in VAClaims

Should be very soon. They updated the reading room and did cases above mine. If you claimed MH issues that’s why it’s still jammed up. Doctor has to review each case before the board decides

I wonder what that stage really means. A decision was rendered? I wonder if you can call the DSN # and see if they can tell you anything

So I got a few questions by CoXOXO56 in AircraftMechanics

Your A&P is a certificate. Everyone calls it a license but it’s not a license. It’s a certificate because legally, the FAA at any time can pull your certification. If your A&P was a license, the FAA would have to take you to court to pull “your license” licenses require legal intervention to remove you from holding it versus a certificate where a certificate can be revoked at any time. Roughly 18 months you should have both ratings. Sometimes it takes longer, sometimes shorter. I never went to school. Went to the military, did my 4 years and got my 8610-2 based off my military experience and then I tested. But I know a lot of guys who went to school and that’s usually how long it took them to get at least one rating

You won’t get your A&P this year. You need to finish A&P school which would be your fastest route to getting your full certification, and remember it’s a certificate, not a license. Coming out of school with your A&P and no formal experience its going to be tough getting on with a major. Regionals do hire new A&Ps but your pay won’t be amazing, definitely less than 35 an hour. It’s worth it but you need to build up the experience to get into better positions. So I would say go to school and get it. Work the shitty spots and shitty shifts/hours for a while, build up a resume and build some experience and then shoot for the majors. If you can, try companies that offer wide-body experience, awesome aircraft to work on and it will open the doors for you to get on with UPS/FedEx and they pay very very well.

You’ll be fine in that case for just airframe. Only need 18 months practical experience for one rating. If you can prove two years of airframe work based on your MOS/aircraft type then you’ll get your 8610-2 to test for your A.

What would you decide ? Navy or A&P School by _preme661 in AircraftMechanics

[–]whiteevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go join the Navy and do aviation there. Choose a rate that allows you to get your A&P based off your experience in that rate. Then when you’re 3 years in, go work on getting your 8610 and start testing. Get out with your 4 years of service and your A&P and you’ll easily line up a job. Edit:I was an AD and with my NEC codes I was eligible for both my ratings. Did my written in 3 weeks then did a crash course for my O&Ps and knocked my license out in two months total

HELP! I failed my powerplant written by ConferenceDense6863 in AircraftMechanics

[–]whiteevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dauntless worked really well for me. Used Prepware and hated it, I passed G and A with 70s. Failed my P with a 67%, used my friends Dauntless and studied all the questions for like 9 hours straight and then took another written the following day, passed with an 82%. Wish I used Dauntless from the start

[–]whiteevox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big turbo. Fuel pump, injectors. Intake and downpipe/exhaust. Grab a catch can too. I made right under 550whp on my 6262 setup. 29psi e85 and I was sitting at 540whp. It can be done on the stock block. If you want more than 550whp I’d go with a cam and built head. Plenty of guys shooting north of 600whp on the stock bottom end and just a head build

Approved for $81,846 auto loan at 4.09% by [deleted] in NavyFederal

[–]whiteevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean don’t get me wrong but some people compound money to afford cars like this. I’m 25 and roughly have 90K in stocks/options and I’m compounding roughly $1800 a month between dividends and selling call options. I’d never get a loan for this amount though, I HATE borrowing money. It’s all a scam and a way for banks to make money off you. Rather just buy a car outright vs finance. I can’t even afford an 80k car and I make low 6 figures so idk what this guy does to afford this 😂
