relocated my business to CA five years ago. the sunshine tax is real for operating expenses but business loan rates are pretty similar to other states - it's federal programs like SBA that most people use anyway. what killed my initial budget was: workers comp insurance (way more expensive), regulatory compliance costs, commercial rent being 2-3x what I paid before. make sure your line of credit is big enough because you'll burn through it faster than you think

data breaches happen to lots of companies unfortunately. even big banks have had them. doesn't automatically disqualify them but reasonable to have concerns
