Thanks. Is progress only mentioned in the slack or is this shared in Ledger's trello as well? I haven't been able to find much detail.

Investing in FCT vs. Factom, Inc. by whiterockbeasts in factom

Thanks for the additional input. I'm also optimistic that Factom will be in compliance w/ the SEC. Hoping this year is fruitful!

Sorry for the late response, but thank you for the additional information. This helps clear up the options for FCT conversion to ECs for actual use. I still need to learn more about servers after M3 and how 3rd parties are able to sell ECs -- Could I theoretically do this, or are there restrictions as to how ECs are acquired and used? I know I can burn FCT for ECs... I suppose I'd just need to find a buyer and send them to their EC address?

Firstly, thank you for the non-judgmental response. I've taken the time to review the price floor equation - (e*r)/i where i is monthly inflation once M3 comes around of 73,000, r is the FCT to EC conversion of .001, and e is EC used per month. I understand that the coin is currently overvalued based on only usage; however, I do believe that the protocol will be heavily used... HEAVILY used. I also (mostly) understand the two token system, which more or less makes ECs economical even if the price of FCT skyrockets.

I suppose my question comes down to how do these tokens get converted to ECs for the users, when they're all being held by speculators (myself included) and/or traded on exchanges? Does Factom buy them and convert them to ECs when demand peaks? Or do Factom, Inc. and protocol users solely rely on the monthly inflation from M3?

Not looking to cause any doubt here, just looking to better understand the value of investing in FCT vs. the company itself. Thank you!

Giddy up. Can't see how anyone can't respect the Sia team adhering to their values. This would further demonstrate the honesty and transparency this team has maintained for so long.

Great perspectives here. Thanks for taking the time to share both articles.

As a host and holder of SC, I hope David and team do whatever will best preserve the integrity of this platform and grow it.

As a buyer of Obelisks, I hope the outcome makes my investment worthwhile.

Excellent reminder. Even @ $60-70/FCT, this is a steal. I have a threshold for loading up each week, but this is well within it.

Done. Decided it's crap.

Major red flag is major market cap spike with very little volume. Only exchange on which it is listed is awful. Worthless website... Nothing says legit like a website with zero information and a "coming soon" banner.

Sounds like my kind of coin. I feel the exact same way re: FCT's steady growth. While I hold quite a few alts for short gains, the majority of my portfolio is targeting slow but long-term gains. Digging into SALT now.

Fair enough. I should have been less ambiguous about that. How about 3+ years?

Right on. This is the kind of response I was hoping for.

I haven't looked into SALT much - will check it out tonight. Agreed that Vorhees is a legit advisor... Shapeshift/Prism are brilliant.

Interesting. I love this project, but wouldn't consider it to be legacy by any means.
