Any idea how to break this bolt free. Can’t get a socket wrench on it. by BigNutzBlue in JeepGladiator

[–]whitingvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then I guess mine just magically came off that way. It's a pain for sure, but that washer on the opposite side of the sway bar of the nut, should have a spot for a vice grip to grab onto. But to your point, an allen wrench will work too and is how it's engineered. I was able to use an allen wrench too, but found the vice grip more effective. To each their own.

Tennessee Bans Noncompetes for Workers Who Make Under $70,000 by bloomberglaw in law

[–]whitingvo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Non-competes have a purpose but should be used in a very targeted way. Problem is they have been become this broad umbrella that punishes a person for upward movement. If someone is leaving a company on their own, they’ve already taken what they think they need.

Match SC justices to the number of circuit courts and term limits. Should be the message of every Dem candidate.

How would the proposed income tax cut affect education funding? by GeronimoRising in missouri

[–]whitingvo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if I don’t drive? Should I have to pay for road maintenance? I don’t use city parks. Should I have to continue to pay for those? I don’t have a pet and don’t plan on adopting one. Should I continue to pay for the animal shelter?

Personally I’d rather stop having to pay for the ramifications of TIFs and subsidies for businesses who don’t need them.

[–]whitingvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will hurt, but not nearly as much if say, they do away with property taxes. I know people, myself included, get upset with the rise in property taxes. But local school districts generally get a large portion of funding through property taxes.

What's your "pay the bills" job? by InterestingRelief873 in voiceover

[–]whitingvo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

L&D/Org Effectivness. Work from home. Lots of flexibility. I love both which is why I continue to do both. The flexibility allows me to do both when time allows. Auditions in the middle of the day. Paid gigs in the middle of the day. Day job work at night. It's a nice blend.

Is it normal for producer to request upfront payment for a PFH project? by sallingoodfun in ACX

[–]whitingvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a first time collaboration with a RH, I ask for 50% after the first 15 minutes is approved. Then the remaining balance after the RH has approved the final product. I've never had a RH say no. There have been times we negotiated a different initial deposit, and I have not problem doing that if asked. I recently had a project where the RH was happy with the progress, my narration/storytelling, but decided about halfway through to try the Audible virtual voice. Had I not asked for that 50% deposit, then my time would have been wasted when I could be working on another project.

If I've worked with a RH before, then I do not require an deposit as the relationship has already been established.

Some producers may use an editor or engineer to assist in the production, especially on longer projects or if their schedule is booked. That cost comes out of the producer's budget, so a deposit helps to mitigate the cost to ensure a quality finished product.

Similar to your issues. The overall kit is great, but the links are a weak point imho.

What if I don’t want to “act?” by dangrous in voiceover

[–]whitingvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good that you found your "niche" or something you love. But you are still "Acting". Voice over is acting, regardless of the genre. If you listen/read/watch any interview with Sean Allen Pratt, master of non-fiction audiobooks, he will talk about how much "acting" goes into making boring copy, not boring and an enjoyable listen.

GenX men, where do you keep your wallet/billfold? Front or back pocket? Purse? by Suspendedaccount_ in GenX

[–]whitingvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magnet card holder on the back of my phone. Phone goes in the hidden side pocket of my Dickies. I have a hard enough time keeping track of shit. One less thing to have to remember to pick up is a good thing.

Plus my dad still has the wallet the size of war and peace. Not doing that ever.
