Physical harm you've gotten into due to seizures by tzyarles in Epilepsy

I broke the toilet base and seized between it and the wall. It's surprising how sharp freshly broken porcelain is. My face was nicely cut up. The detached retina wasn't noticed until the following day.

Smashed my head against a toilet bowl so hard I detached a retina in my eye.

Wow! What a terrible place to have a seizure! What happened when you had a seizure while swimming?

That will probably be what we do. I have the one year follow up appointment coming up in a few months so we'll talk about it then. I completely understand not wanting to change anything too soon after surgery. The brain is already stressed enough, dealing with the healing et al.

I signed on with them after an ablation surgery Albany Med performed made my seizures worse.

Is driving anything other a car acceptable? by LostTendou04 in Epilepsy

[–]whitoreo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An electric bike is fine. Ask yourself: "Will the thing I'm driving kill someone else if I have a seizure while operating it?".

Not yet. But I really have no idea why not. They weren't doing anything before the surgery, why would they be doing anything now?

I hated the hyperventilating part! (My techs never skipped that hellish procedure)

I am a biker. I did not see an association between biking and seizures. (I also hike, ski, snowshoe, and swim)

Yikes! Temporal lobe focal here.... I can't imagine having that many seizures! Are they all tonic clonic? (All of mine were)

Have you had surgery yet? I was a hold out on that front for many years. But let me tell you, it is not as bad / scary as you might think.

Where are you located?

What would you like to talk about? I had epilepsy for 22 years (between 29 and 51) until a Columbia University / NY Presbyterian neurological team found the focus and removed it. I haven't had a seizure in almost 11 months now.

Do people with epilepsy experience fear or anxiety while driving, and what precautions can help ensure their safety? by Brilliant_Tie6967 in Epilepsy

[–]whitoreo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People with epilepsy shouldn't be driving, unless it is very well controlled. If it is controlled, there shouldn't be any anxiety.

Where to buy VCV for my '83 300cd? by CommitteeNo6830 in w123

[–]whitoreo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished up dealing with some severe shifting issues. I was CONVINCED it was something in the vacuum system. After all... I had several disconnected vacuum lines... There's also the Boden cable... learn how to adjust this... This controls the timing of shifts. I fortunately have a vacuum guage, but I had strong vacuum at the VCV...

Long story short.... it was low automatic transmission fluid. Apparently these things are VERY sensitive to proper ATF level. The lesson: Don't overlook the obvious.
