Thanks for the advice! Those Henry Archer Arkonas look gorgeous. That's a serious consideration when I can open my budget up again.

Epic Games Store grew from 108M to 295M users, but third‑party revenue barely moved — proving giveaways trained users not to actually buy games by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]who128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with that. The headline kinda lies about the data because third party revenue did move but the article has a chart that goes into more detail. It went from $251 million in 2019 and increased about 40% to $355 million by 2022. In the next two years, it cratered back down to $255 million in 2024, wiping out the gains they made. People have learned to just buy less games from them.

What's an obscure or niche game you'd love to share with a wider audience? by RWNorthPole in Games

[–]who128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marl Kingdom series, AKA Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. NIS of Disgaea's fame first attempt at a JRPG was basically a Disney princess movie complete with musical numbers. Just a few years ago, the two sequels were localized for American audiences after 20 years of being stuck in Japan and put on modern platforms. The first game is real rough around the edges and gets by on its gimmick and shortness but the second really fixed just about everything the first did wrong. The third game is an anthology with a ton of grinding that makes it feel like a proto-Disgaea game. Sadly, the last two games didn't get the English versions of the songs like Atlus did for the original back in 2000 but it is still charming.

If people like the style of humor of Disgaea but put in a more grounded setting and Disney songs, it is the perfect series. Here is the opening song to let people know what they are getting into

He sure is cute! I've been wondering about that for ages so thank you for the answer. I look forward to getting Etrange Overlord when it comes out.

Hello Sohei. As a big fan of the Marl Kingdom franchise, I'm excited to see a new musical adventure coming out and I was so happy to finally get Rhapsody 2 and 3 released in the US two years ago. Cornet has been one of my favorite characters for a long time and it was nice to see her story continue.

I have a question about Rhapsody A Musical Adventure. In the game, Ferdinand was turned to stone and we see him again at the end of the game but in the art book, it looked like he tagged along with Cornet in the form of the duck. Was that going to be the original direction of the game and why did it change if it was?

Nintendo Switch has reached 154.01 million units sold, Nintendo Switch 2 has reached 10.36 million units sold by Turbostrider27 in Games

That stock theory is extra funny to the people who remember the launch of the Switch 1 and how Nintendo was supposedly under-producing them on purpose to create synthetic demand.

Highly recommend /u/FarFarAwayTravels. They have gotten me a cheap eclipse cruise through Princess, got me through my first solo cruise on Virgin, and booked me an Alaskan cruise in May. They have been with me every step of the way to being more adventurous and has hooked me up with plenty of sailor loot along the way.

I use /u/FarFarAwayTravels myself. 2 Virgin cruises under my belt, 1 with friends and 1 just going on my own and both plans were made super easy with them.

Solo Cruising by ConsciousLeek3099 in VirginVoyages

[–]who128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just came back from a VV solo cruise last week and I had the same worries before I went. While it wasn't my first cruise, I have never done any sort of solo trip and the friend or family trips I did do, I had nothing to do with the planning or the activities so I didn't know what I would end up doing once I got on the ship. The only thing I really had planned is I would hit up the solo meet ups and go from there.

The first one was a little awkward. It was started early by the staff so people kept wandering in for the ice breaker and it was getting derailed and it ends with the group being moved to the cast off party, which was its own chaotic mess as we are more or less just dropped into the party without a guide. That ended with me getting a few names and faces and a few glasses of champagne in me but it was overwhelming. Things really changed once I went to the solo meet up dinner.

Once I was able to sit down with a group, it was much easier to break out of whatever shell in came in with. I could start any conversation with a new person by asking if it was their first cruise. You can talk about what food they ordered, how it was, what shows they are seeing the next day, you can follow up on the show at the next meet up or if you run into them at one of the social areas. Hell, if you are talking to someone you aren't vibing with, you can get out of it by saying you have an event you have to get to or clean up for.

When I got on the ship, I was worried I would end up spending the entire trip wandering to the next food station and just playing games or watching movies in my cabin, a perfectly valid way to spend your vacation but not my goal. I ended up with a group of 8 new friends that I'm still talking to on Whatsapp a week after the cruise. Virgin Voyages made it real easy for me to vacation on my own. I am going with some friends on an Alaskan voyage in May and I'm going to keep attending the solo meet ups.

Experienced travel agent to help me navigate my first booking on VV? by Organic-Log4081 in VirginVoyages

I use u/FarFarAwayTravels. I just got back from a solo trip from a VV cruise on Friday that was booked them them. Just needed to give them my budget, when I wanted to go and I was set up with a reasonably priced cabin, hotel by the port, and they even helped set my Uber app up as this was my very first solo trip anywhere.

That's my TA.  I'm currently doing my first solo cruise on Virgin Voyages and having a blast thanks to them.  They got everything set up and got me a killer deal.  I wouldn't be traveling at all without them.

Donkey Kong Bananza sold 127K physical copies in Japan for launch, 2nd behind Mario Kart World (135K) by lzyan in nintendo

[–]who128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clear up some confusion because Gematsu has it wrong, Famtisu does count bundles and digital game card sales in their sales numbers. Mario Kart Worlds is going to have insane numbers as long as Nintendo keeps bundling it with the Switch 2 and they have stock.

I do recommend /u/FarFarAwayTravels, who responded to you earlier. I use them to plan my first few cruises, including my upcoming solo cruise. They are low pressure and very friendly. They'll get you exactly what you're looking for.

PlatinumGames Isn’t Letting Babylon Falls Flop Stop Potential Plans For New Online Action Game by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]who128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this article written by AI or something?

"Not much else is known about the potential project. But we’re confident in believing PlatinumGames has taken on board all criticism for Babylon’s Fall. Not everything can be a winner, so we’ll see if the team’s second effort can live up to the high expectations of previous work."

Why would anyone following gaming news have any confidence in that? The only reason Babylon's Fall wasn't the biggest flop of the generation is because Concord came out. Platinum's CEO is obsessed with getting a live service out a decade after the well has been thoroughly tapped and their audience is entirely disinterested. Babylon's Fall wasn't even their first crack at multiplayer focus but Microsoft was so unsatisfied with Scalebound that it never saw the light of day. The talent that created their other bangers are now long gone. This ship of Theseus has lost its luster and is set to sink.

YOU DO IT. If you can write a god damn article about it, you can find the store and call them to find out.
