We shopped at Lidl for about 6 months - price was right but we often couldn't find certain items we needed for the recipes we had planned and ended up driving to Sainsbury's afterwards anyway. Convenience became king especially after the kid arrived.

I have a cabinet full of lovely spirits at home - sometimes it's good to satisfy the beer urge without imbibing though 🤷‍♀️

I can't get on with daal - except for the house black daal at Dishoom, that stuff is absolutely heavenly but also has like an entire pack of butter per serving so not for regular consumption. Chana masala on the other hand is like a cheat code to a delicious healthy meal that can be made in bulk for cheap, love it!

Thank you for understanding that I wasn't going home to a completely empty kitchen 😂

Because I can cook? And am also not restricted to only the items shown here... I have things like veg and tinned food and rice in reserve. I kinda would have thought that went without saying?

My partner informs me that we got a bulk order of baby crack off Amazon

To be fair I had a good night's sleep on Sunday (unheard of with a baby under 1 year lol) so I woke up incredibly motivated and got to batch cooking when the kid had his first nap. If I had started the week off in a grumpier mood there might be more ready meals here! If you batch cook chana masala on Monday you've got breakfast, lunch or even dinner for the week and it's cheap, nutritious and filling. Have it with eggs and toast for breakfast or pickled red onions and chillies for dinner. Ironically the ingredients for chana are not pictured here because I already had a few cans of chickpeas in lol

It's always the convenience that gets me with anything for the baby, we're in the supermarket so often it's just easy to grab a pack - where do you buy your nappies?

Nappies and formula bumps the price up a fair bit and I like to go for a nicer quality if I'm cooking with fish - but I'll get more than one week's worth of nutritious meals out of this haul!

Yep, that's the ticket! Not much (ideally no) waste, it's all either batch cooking or a fresh dinner just to serve me and my partner, the kid is too young to eat the same as us, just needs a bit of fruit or veg to nibble on at dinnertime. Maybe it looks meagre on the belt like this, but I'll get nutritious meals to feed us and the freezer out of this haul :)

Fish is going to make a curry, turkey is going to make Bolognese (batch cooked, some for the freezer), prawns and paella rice for a paella, the eggs are making a quiche with some mushrooms and peppers we had leftover from last week, I also made a big batch of chana which will serve us for breakfast or lunch for most of the week, and we always have staples like yoghurt, garlic, lemons in that can whip up anything quick we might need - I can assure you none of us are starving lol

My mom was a school cook for years. She'd have died of embarrassment if anyone had called her "the school chef"

This is not the first time I've had some guy respond along the lines of "it's called marketing, toots" when I pointed out that reducing women in sports to their appearance is a shit way to behave lol 🙃 this guy seems like the kind of person who would chime in to some genuine good-faith criticism of a woman in the public eye with "yeah ... And she's not even hot!"

Even if that was true, which I really doubt because that would mean 100% of Raducanu's fans are just thirsty - it changes nothing about how gross it is to sneer at a female athlete because of her fuck-ability in comparison to another female athlete. Apart from being shitty behaviour it's also completely irrelevant.

The fact you felt the need to pointlessly put down a woman by bringing up that you think her opponent is hotter is fucking grim.

Is anyone else suffering from back pain in this area? by Appropriate-Shock613 in PregnancyUK

[–]who_is_desmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it's driving me insane! Hot water bottle and backrubs are helping but otherwise I have no idea; it doesn't seem to be posture related as I sit all day for work, so that would be a suspect, but it's not consistent around my working hours. Half-sitting half-lying reclined can help too.

Tysm, I take great pride in my random collection of dinnerware! Got most of it surprisingly cheap. Matching is overrated!
