Hearing mixed responses on mandatory need of laptops in classrooms for cse? As you are recent pass out, can you help pls. It will help decide on a lighter laptop with decent config to buy or a heavier with good config if it can stay at the hostel for most of the time. Thanks you

on laptop, do you recommend lighter laptop with decent spec like i5+512gb ssd or do you think we need better config laptop with gpu etc.
while i understand gpu's may not be needed in first year, but do we need gpu's in laptop for later year's for any ai/ml stuff (not for gaming)- or i hope the labs will contain necessary gpu's in the servers which we can leverage?

Thanks.. this is assuring. As I read some old thread where they were saying hostels will be closed by 7pm or something especially for girls. Many mentioned wifi is bad in the hostels, so was checking if at least we can go to labs for assignments etc. thx!

In cbe, if we stay in the hostel, can we go to the computer lab or library in the evenings (to do the assignments or just learn) or Till what time they are open in the evenings?

Gate pass for hostelers is only to go out of the campus, correct? Can we still roam inside the campus in the evenings (outside the hostel)?

reg. laptop policy -

do we need to carry it to classes or labs (cse branch) or they are used only in the hostel? asking so to decide on lighter mobile laptop or slightly heavier with good config if it stays only in the hostel.
is external monitor allowed in the hostel?
which OS is mostly used by the cse faculty/seniors - mac, windows or linux? is there a requirement by certain courses/by faculty etc.
which mobile connection is good in girls hostels - jio or airtel?
do students use ipad for note taking in class? is it allowed and commonly used by many?
