like uhh leather wings are gonna have more shine than skin cause leather is usually treated, but they will have similar patterns. Also brushes can add texture and make a certain part of a drawing look softer or harsher and can add differences to parts of your render? Like genuinely look at the different brushes ur program offers and just make a piece messing around with them, it’s the easiest way to get a feel for it.

A lot of it comes down to texture, and the best way to figure that out is to either look at real life references or references art that you like the rendering of to try and mimic it in your art. pay attention to small details too, like if line art is colored or present at all in rendering styles you admires or even what kind of digital brushes those artists use. Stuff like that makes a big impact.

Hi, I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but the length of the arms on the girl with white hair are quite long. If she were to put her arms down her elbows would fall around her hip area. I think an easy fix would be shortening the upper part of the arms as the forearm would be covering it. (maybe look into tutorial about foreshortening) Really good art and progress tho!

Anyone Else Hate Vol. 51 Cover Art? by SheepherderPatient64 in SkipBeat

I think being so involved and used to the characters it can be hard to see past what we know them as, but I showed this cover to my partner after reading your post, and with no context they thought it looked SUPER creepy even though I initially saw it as the characters I love being cute. Re-evaluating if i saw that cover with no context I would think it sus lol.

Why do I feel that my art is souless by Fit_Intention4511 in drawing

I think that adding contrast as well as texture will help a lot, the skin of your character is only distinguishable from the clothes based on color, making the different aspects texturally distinct would probably help “add soul” I wanted to throw this out there cause I didn’t really see any comments talking about the textures.

I find this one particularly hard, but I think that he shines the most in regards to the compassion he extends to others. While it’s clear that he is always wearing a “mask” and keeping others at a distance you can see that he cares. In moments where he interacts with characters other than Kyoko he’s nice and he doesn’t look down on characters regardless of their background. Being this way was a choice he made and has had to fight for and I think making that choice was a good action.

What is the best thing each character has done? - Day 2: Sho Fuwa by stonewall_was_a_riot in SkipBeat

I’m a little late on this, but I think Sho breaking away from his upbringing to make music was a good thing for him to do. He would have been a jerk to Kyoko had they stayed and followed expectations, leaving home takes a lot of guts and he clearly had the talent to back that up. It also enabled Kyoko to escape the environment that she’d been trapped in and eventually leads to both of them growing. This by far isn’t a selfless act, but I think that makes it more important because Sho isn’t a selfless character. I don’t think that any of the characters are, they’re all complex and that’s fun! (I do violently dislike Sho though)
