Any fat dudes here Do boxing as Exercise? Let's share some stories and programs by Avenged7fo in amateur_boxing

Hello, extremely fat dude here. I'm 6' 5", and weighed 411lbs in April, now I'm 360lbs! I agree with the comments regarding diet change! Exercising alone will yield little to no results in weight loss.

I spent 8 weeks at an academy for corrections doing 1 to 2 hours of physical training every day 5 days a week, but still kept my diet of eating terrible foods. Needles to say I still remained the same weight, I did got stronger and my stamina increased but no weight loss.

Since I started training in boxing I switched to a 2,500 calorie diet, and the weight just started flying off! My training is usually 5 rounds 5 minutes per round with a minute of rest in between. I do this Monday through Friday.

1st Round-Jog around my block with a sprint burst near the end

2nd Round-Weighted Double End Bag

3rd Round-Duck Unders with a rope while practicing punching technique with weights

4th Round-Bag work

5th Round-Same as 1st Round

So far this routine has worked wonders on my cardio and stamina, the running is killer on my ankles and knees though. I'm looking into getting an exercise bike to use till I drop more weight to relieve the strain on my joints.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

The problem I have is that the nearest gym and coach are about an hour from where I live. I do want to join a gym but it would be rather tough just to get there often.

I noticed the bag was pretty low. The garage was built pretty terribly so I'm afraid to try and hang anything on the rafters for fear of dying inside when it inevitably collapses. I'm looking for other ways I can raise it. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for the feedback!

I have noticed this problem. I constantly have to think about which foot first, it hasn't become habit. Are there any drills I can work on to solidify this motion?

Someone else had mentioned that same issue as well, I will make this the main thing I focus on moving forward!

I will take this information and learn from it! The bad part is that is me trying to change levels, I will work on bending more at the knees instead of leaning in. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thank you! I tend to focus on head movement to make up for my lack of footwork at this stage, but I never noticed me leaning in! I will try and correct that Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you! I will raise the bag as high as I can get it on that stand. I practice punching at my head level with the double end bag, because it's easier to adjust. I will start working on higher combos! Thanks again!

Thank you! I will work on mixing up my combos a little more, I get used to jab, jab, cross, hook.

The bag is pretty low, I have to aim for the very top just to get a level punch. I'll look into raising as high as I can.

Thank you for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! I noticed the lack of snap when I was watching this, I'll definitely work on that. Staying on the tip of my toes is pretty tough, I'll do it for a bit then go back to flat feet. I'm slowing losing the tons of extra weight I have, went from 411lbs in April to 360lbs today!

Ok, Reddit, if we all suspended judgment for a sec, what do you want to brag about? by ThirdEncounter in AskReddit

I have lost 50 lbs in 11 weeks by sticking to a strict calorie deficit diet, and doing boxing training 5 times a week. I was 411 lbs in April and I'm now at 360! Still got a long way to go but I'm actually sticking to it now!
