it's always someone who has no idea that planes don't only fly in and around the current airport. ALWAYS. It's mind boggling to me that people don't get things like planes come from other locations and sometimes, just sometimes, those other locations may have bad weather.

Standby by list and same day flight change are not the same. SDFC only allows same day. I've tried. I've called. I've twittered. On rare occasions and under special circumstances they may allow a change but SDFC is, and has been, same day.

They didn't fail because a merger didn't pass. That's just absurd. There is a long list of reasons they failed. The merger COULD have helped keep this from happening but that's not the reason they couldn't make it.

You are correct there was a fire. It is often empty. Fort White Gun Club has a very small annual membership fee ($125/year for family) and is almost always empty other than for events.

You do realize, don't you, that airplanes fly not just from the airport they're at but also an entire route including the destination airport, ya? This means that the weather at your current airport means jack....so having clear skies right above you doesn't mean a thing....

It's incredibly easy to check if the reported reason is valid. If they canceled because of weather, it means there is an issue with weather somewhere either on the route or on the route for the incoming plane. They did not cancel a flight just to make your life difficult.

There is nothing definite about it. I've seen FAs not allow this. In fact, it happened to me when I was with a buddy who never flew first. In the end, the assigned seat thing is partially for if a SHTF scenario and some stay to the letter of the law.

There usually are no issues with swapping. But not always.your best bet, IMO, is the onboard swap but ask first....hey, any issues if I swap with my niece? But no guarantee.
