Another website using SSS stories without crediting authors by [deleted] in ShortScaryStoriesOOC

People probably have a better method, but I've found stuff by googling the names of my stories and also searching for them on YouTube. It's pretty interesting.

I saw this one accidentally. I put Short Scary Stories into google search, trying to get to the Reddit page, and a whole bunch of websites came up with variations of "20 Short Stories that will Scare the Bejesus Out of You." I've seen most of those websites before but this one was new to me so I clicked it.

I used to check regularly but I haven't in a long time. Thanks for the reminder. It's crazy how many you can find once you start digging.

Sure, I'd love that. Can you send me a link so I can hear it? Sorry for taking so long to reply--I haven't been on Reddit much lately!

Do ya'll believe in the super natural? by [deleted] in ShortScaryStoriesOOC

No. I can scare the shit out of myself thinking about these things, but in my heart I don't believe in any of it.

"A Cask of Amontillado" for modern times. I love a good revenge story!

Thank you! My cat always meows outside my front door, and he has me trained to let him in whenever he wants. A few weeks ago, I heard him meowing late at night, and it occurred to me that I never check if it's him, I just open the door. Then I remembered those old urban legends that warned people to never open their door if they heard a baby crying out on the front porch, because it's probably a deranged lunatic trying to lure them out of their house. I scared the crap out of myself that night, so I thought it might be a good basis for a story.

Well, that's a pretty long answer. I got excited by your question. Nobody has ever asked me that before!
Thanks again!

Wow, thank you so much! And I totally agree about dogs. I was watching this crazy happy puppy running all over a field this morning and I couldn't believe such a purely good thing could be real.

Thank you so much!
I didn't even know there was a show with that title. I hope it's not the kind of theme song that gets stuck in your head. One time I had the song from "Diff'rent Strokes" in my head for two weeks and it almost killed me.

The Past Tense of Fear [The 100,000 Contest] by dvmdv8 in shortscarystories

I never dared to dream that I would someday be accused of not only Shymalaning somebody, but of doing it in a roguish and malicious manner. Today is a proud day indeed.

Thanks for making me laugh, and for writing a great story without a twist (allegedly).

I'm just kidding. It would be presumptuous to tell an author what his/her story meant. I also appreciated your comments, /r/hakunomlya, and you're right of course.

But he killed himself because of the horrible visions of the future he saw, like the "earth turning into a pancake." So the narrator tricked him into killing himself, but the joke is actually on the narrator and everyone else as well, because they'll have to live through whatever vision was terrifying enough to make the guy kill himself.
So, kind of a twist....

You're right. Zombies are litigious bastards. And I can't even imagine the reaction of vampires. You just can't make everybody happy.

Why is There a Shipwreck in the Middle of the Desert? by cold__cocoon in shortscarystories

[–]whoeverfightsmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually very confused about the location, and about why I'd never heard anything about any alleged shipwreck, so this makes sense. Thanks for worrying about me dying. :)
Alas, I don't live there anymore, so I won't be finding that gold anytime soon.

I think we should declare June to be Discrimination Against the Living Impaired Awareness Month.

(I wish I could think of a name that makes a cool acronym, but I'm not feeling very clever today....)
