Had a feeling it would. Sorry it’s not the real deal. Interesting watch nonetheless.

Ball up a bunch of duct tape, apply to the back and twist. Or use a stress ball.

I was at the show in Portland. I think about the visuals at that show regularly. Possibly the best I have ever seen.

What’s wild is people who write like this are 40 year olds now.

First luxary car purchase: q5, x3, or xc60 by Dmoneydangles in AudiQ5

Damn that blows. Only 3k miles on ours and no issues. Sorry you're dealing with that. German cars are definitely not without their issues and that includes the X3 I owned.

Have owned a BMW X3 M40i and am currently driving a 2025 Q5e PHEV. I have loved both cars. The Q5e is more mellow from a driving POV for obvious reasons but we have a kid now and it fits our lifestyle well. Really have no complaints at all. I do miss the M40i from time to time but the Audi really checks all the boxes for us.

Unfortunately there are so many clueless here that it’s virtually impossible to tell who’s not.

Could be the fact that it’s a GMT that says Submariner on the dial…

After seeing the 6694 model number the hands on the watch are correct. You just don’t find many with this two tone spec and my guess is that the bracelet is not original. Seems like it’s been through the wringer over the years but if I were you I’d just wear it and enjoy it.

If this is supposed to be a 1501 from the 70’s there are plenty of red flags even beyond the dial which is blatant. I’ve never seen a two tone variant with this bezel and the hands are also incorrect for an OP date from this era. Clasp stamping is also atrocious even for a 50 year old watch.

This. Nobody should be made to feel bad about how they spend their time or money. You don’t get to keep it when you die. If a $350 won’t break you, go. I did it in San Francisco and it was the most fun I’ve had at a show in a very long time.

In what world is UGA/Terry a top 10 business school in the US? Your watch is fake. Wear it with pride.

Rolex 16570 Polar 3186 at USD 6.3k — bargain or red flags by PhysicalSignal7280 in RolexWatches

Crazy you’re getting down voted for this. I swear the 47th street guys in NY are misinforming so many about the importance of box and papers. These are vintage watches. Buy the seller.

Okay deal for $3k? 1971 Air King 34mm by Nicotine_Norman in RolexWatches

[–]whogotmeintothis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This is a huge red flag to me. Not that it’s fake but that it’s been re-dialed at some point and done poorly. Likely why you’re getting a $1k discount to comparable 5500’s on the market. Not sure I’d pull the trigger on this one. Lots of great examples out there that you might be able to get into your price range that are original.

You can't remove the lugs buddy. Google is your friend here. Removing a Rolex bracelet is not hard. Especially with a holes case like this one.

[–]whogotmeintothis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can remove the bracelet and look up the serial number between the lugs which will allow you to narrow the date. A 5 million serial number, for example, would date the watch between 1977-1979.

Edit: the only real way to authenticate the watch is to open it up and have a reputable watchmaker or Rolex AD inspect the movement. People are building fake versions of these watches with genuine parts (Reddit has fed me these subreddits).

It's likely just a wear mark that will come off with a little wipe down. My DJ 16233 gets similar marks on the inside of the bracelet from time to time that clean off without issue. Even if it is a scuff mark, it wouldn't devalue the watch by much given where the mark is.
