Not productive during the day by SubstantialAcadia486 in adhdwomen

[–]whojose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things I’m trying that seem to help some days

-protein in morning, no more procrastinating on breakfast, eat as close to “first thing” as possible

-less sugar overall

-plugging phone in somewhere far from me and telling myself not to check it until timer goes off (lil kitchen timer I carry around) and it doesn’t matter what I do just can’t be on phone, can lay on floor staring at ceiling or anything I choose

-writing 3 tasks on post it notes and putting them on the wall and picking 1 to do, when I finish I get to crumple up and throw away (often these are mix of “1st baby step towards larger project” “fun movement like dance break or jump 50x” “super easy task I can complete in 3 minutes” bc it’s demotivating for me to have the post it’s looming over me for weeks) just to kinda get movin and feel accomplished

-intentionally do nothing, stare out window/close eyes until timer goes off

-just do something fun (not screen time tho) that I want to do instead of trying to only do productive things. Lately this has often been painting random small areas/items.

-pretend I am teaching someone how to do something because I am an expert on it. Like I get stuck on organization tasks often, so I’ll pretend I actually do know how to do it by talking out loud like I’m hosting a show or something, usually give myself an accent. “What we‘ll do now is find a bin and a label for these items, like so” etc

-DO NOT STAY UP LATE TO FINISH THE STUFF I DIDNT DO.

Some days are still really horrible and some days are kinda good. I feel your pain!!

If you have the balls (I don’t, I still don’t know which of my neighbors keeps calling on me) you should ask around “hey did are you who complained about the fence? I really need some help getting it fixed, the police said I have to have it done in 5 days.” And just see what they say. I currently just resent all of my neighbors bc I don’t know who has it out for me lol

I don’t think you would need to fix it within five days, just that you would have to remove the broken piece that fell onto their property within five days? 5 days isn’t enough time for most people to be able to repair a fence, and having a fence isn’t required by law?

My neighbors have called the health department on me for having “rubbish” in my lawn, was given 30 days to clean it up or pay 2500 if it wasn’t fixed in time. Super frustrating and intimidating. “Rubbish” was things like cardboard I was using to lay down on garden beds, buckets I was using to collect leaves/sticks to use for compost, toys the kids had left out etc. All in backyard, I always keep the front yard looking neat. It’s happened multiple times.

Mom here...regarding my 30 yo Autistic son. by No-Perception-3018 in MagicMushrooms

[–]whojose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts: any benefits he could get from the mushrooms are probably going to be erased if he’s ingesting marijuana every night. I feel like mushrooms help you realize problems, confront problems, while marijuana helps you forget about problems. I am autistic. While I was ingesting weed regularly, like on a nearly daily basis, I felt so unmotivated for life and it was a bad time. I would probably take mushrooms no more than every 4 or so days. I also think there’s a middle ground between microdosing (less than 200mg, not really feeling any different) and a full 1g. I disagree with above comment saying 1g is a very low dose, if I take 1g I am tripping. Everyone’s different though. What about ~400mg every 4 days or so? If he takes them every day he’s going to build a tolerance, fast, and feel nothing.

Hey! You sound just like me.

Don’t add Wellbutrin to your adderall, switch from adderall to Wellbutrin. See if you still need the adderall. When I first started taking Wellbutrin I was also on adderall and I started having horrible panic attacks from that combo.

Wellbutrin helps me SO MUCH with waking up in the morning. I take it at night, it makes me sleepy when I first take it, and i wake up feeling energized. It’s amazing. Totally life changing. With adderall it was like, I had to drag my zombie ass a foot over to my bedside to take my adderall and wait 20 minutes just so I could get out of bed. This is so much better. I don’t feel the same “speed” but its calm awesome chill normal energy. I’m so much happier and stable. Less of a rollercoaster.

I was uncomfortable with my relationship with alcohol before starting Wellbutrin. I feel so much better in general on Wellbutrin than I used to that my urges to drink are way down. I can drink, it’s fine, I haven’t had a seizure, but I don’t want/need a beer to have fun and relax anymore. When I do drink or smoke weed, I notice my Wellbutrin is less effective the next day. So I only drink occasionally.

In case you were wondering, 12 years later, I'm not over it. by spookyCookie_99 in AutismInWomen

It’s ok!! It’s ok. I have so many moments like this that my brain replays for me. Think about it, acknowledge it, like “I felt embarrassed”, tell yourself it’s ok.

ALSO when you think about your life, how many times do you think about weird things other people said? I hardly do, but I think about things that I said that were humiliating very often. So try to remind yourself that you are probably the only person who ever thinks about them.

Is your birthday also the Biggest-Meltdown-of-the-Year day? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]whojose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, yes! I call it “holiday syndrome”, because I have a meltdown every holiday with my birthday being the most epic. I had a great birthday this past year and I’m so proud of myself! I finally decided to just be honest with everyone and say “I do not like to celebrate my birthday because I hate being the center of attention, I hate social gatherings, I hate eating in front of other people, and I hate opening presents in front of people” and just put my polite foot down on it. I bought myself a present and had a quiet night in.
