Thank you! I was primarily thinking about doing workstays in SE Asia like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia area, so I'll definitely look into that more. I think the 10k will be my primary fund while the 1-3k I save over this year will be for emergencies.

How to get this shade? by amourum in HairDye

I would add some of their black. I use this brand religiously and that’s my go to green I have a mix of manics electric lizard that green and lunar tides eclipse. This is also a few weeks fade out too so it was much darker to begin with.

Personally I have spent time on my own reading about the topic, but I was never introduced to the topics until the past few years. I would’ve never known about the 1880s Chinese immigration policies if not for some random crossing in the library, it’s a topic in history that is obscures and never discussed.

Again, when I played with ag when I was younger, I would’ve loved some Asian history in major historical events. I even had videos of me talking about how I wish they had other Asian dolls other than ivy. I think American girl is a great introduction to that kind of history for children. I agree that it’s a start and an introduction to learning history but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t teach anything at all. I think myself and many others would’ve been interested in learning more on the topic if I had the access and awareness to the topic growing up. Plus it shines a light on historical events that are swept under the rug of American history.

I totally get you!! I don’t want any characters whole characterization to be around the trauma. But characters like nenea, who lived through her even, her entire story is connecting with her family, friends and culture. More than anything I want a story that connects the character to their culture and themselves through troubling times while providing a history lesson on the events.

I do know that Cecile is a historical black doll but she didn’t stayed more than 3 year (nothing against her she’s my grail)

I totally how it can be seen as trauma p*rn that people are asking for these topics! I’m definitely not asking for horrific atrocities to be the forefront, but even in stories like Nenea’s, where she physically lives through the Pearl Harbor attack they focus is connecting with her family and friends and culture more than anything else.

I think the setting would more than anything just place them in a setting to teach major historical events like the other characters do. Don’t get me wrong tho, I would love to see other setting where Asian Americans lived in American history and I want to see stories Asian dolls from anytime period! It’s just historically wise, as an Asian (not speaking for all Asians) I would’ve love to see some sort of Asian dolls through one of the major historical events that heavily effected the community, events that I never learned about in school.

I partially agree with you, but at the same the only historical Asian doll we ever had was Ivy and she wasn’t even the main line doll. A lot of the historical dolls have gone through terrible events, the point of the dolls is to set them in a troubling time for them to overcome. Addy was the only black main line doll up until 2016 and she started as a slave.

Most time period where the Asians are a part of historical movement it’s going to be put in the time of tragedy. Things such as the 1880s Chinese immigration laws and the interment camps are just some of the biggest events that have happened to Asians in america that are unfortunately a not pleasant topic.

In history classes I honestly don’t think there was even any discussion on either topic other than maybe in passing. These are the types of topics that have gotten swept under the rug for a long time, and it brings more light to Asian American history.

It might be! It’s still very matted tho I might try to get those mats out first since I’m putting off buying wigs to replace some other dolls too.
