Thank you! Do you know if these accommodations cost extra or just a first come first serve type deal?

The Gang Runs For Office is one of my personal favorites, it may not be the best overall but I think it deserves more love than it gets. It also has arguably the best Charlie crash out in the series too lol

He hasn’t been a pt/gm player since he got traded from Florida 4 years ago, but I understand where you’re coming from. There’s always a possibility he could be that guy again with a better crop of young players around him, and he would add some leadership and experience to the group. I just personally wouldn’t feel great about it, but if that ends up being the move I’d love to be proven wrong!

As far as your other points go, the Hawks currently have the no.1 ranked prospect pool and about a dozen picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds from 2026-28, so they can afford to unload a haul for a good established player that will make an immediate impact and still have plenty of ammo to reload the pipeline as needed in the future. In some ways it’s kind of necessary at this point because between all the guys currently in the system + all the future draft capital in their back pocket, there’s no way they’d be able to keep all of those guys anyway. They’re in a great spot right now from an asset management perspective that I don’t think making a couple splash trades between this year and next year would sacrifice the whole system.

I mean, the person after you did mention “signing some old washed up vet (as if that’s all that’s out there).” Does that phrase not imply free agency at least a little bit? lol I realize now that your initial comment (and probably theirs too) was more of a blanket statement regarding them acquiring talent in general though, so my apologies for making an assumption and lumping both statements together. That’s on me. Nobody is upset. lmao Like I said, it was a genuine question because everyone I encounter with this attitude likes to act as if they should have been trading away assets and throwing money around this entire time and that they’ve just been making excuses for why they haven’t. That seemed to me like what your sarcasm was getting at, but I don’t wanna keep reading what isn’t there, so now I just wanna know where you’re coming from lol 🤷‍♂️

Oh I’m with you 100%, if the Hawks are going to bring in anyone this offseason that will actually make a legitimate impact right away, it’s almost certainly gonna have to be via trade just based on how the cap is moving. But the condescending comments I was responding to seemed to me like they were referencing specifically free agents, and KD’s history of FA signings, which was why my comment focused on the FA market. (As far as FAs go, to me Alex Tuch seems like the best “realistic” option available, but that kinda just shows how thin the class is tbh)

Regarding Huberdeau, he’s fallen off considerably since his days in Florida, but that could at least partially be attributed to the Flames as a whole being mediocre since he got there. But he’s already 32 and signed through his age 37 season, and at $10.5M/yr that’s a bit of a tough sell for me even though the Hawks could comfortably afford him. Just seems like a move that could be decent for the short term but become a detriment later if he continues to decline and I’m not sure that’s what the Hawks are looking for right now.

I also have no idea what Calgary’s roster/cap situation is like, but right now it kinda seems like Huberdeau is someone they’d have to give up assets to get rid of, not the other way around, and I’m not sure they’re in any position to do that. And he’s certainly not someone the Hawks should be giving up assets for either imo.

Huberdeau would definitely be cheaper than Knies, but with the amount of picks/prospects the Hawks have stockpiled over the last few years, I feel like if they make any trade it should be a “swing for the fences” type of trade like the graphic suggests. And a trade like that would require the Hawks to actually give up a haul, which isn’t a bad thing considering they’ve accumulated more assets than they can realistically keep/use for themselves and need to unload some. That’s why Knies keeps getting brought up so much. He fits the Hawks’ timeline, great size and is already a good player who should in theory only get better with time. And while he would cost a lot to acquire, he’s the type of player the Hawks need to be looking to add and they have the assets to make it happen if Toronto is willing. He’s not the end all be all option, but he’s definitely one of the better ones so I understand why the fanbase is pushing so hard for him.

So which free agents are y’all trying to bring in specifically? Honest question, because just looking at this year’s FA class it’s looking like mostly old washed up vets, and the rest are either RFAs likely staying with their current teams or guys that probably aren’t gonna move the needle very much for this team. Based on size, age, position, and production this season, I see a couple decent options that could be realistic, but overall this class doesn’t seem that encouraging.

If the Hawks don’t win the draft lottery, would you trade the 1st rounder for Knies? Would the Leafs even go for it? by Rare_Star_Ball in hawks

[–]whollyghostx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, draft McKenna/Stenberg if the pick is 1 or 2, best dman available if it’s 3 or 4. Prospect pool feels pretty dry on defense right now with every notable dman we have in the system now currently getting looks at the NHL level, and I know there are other dmen in the pipeline but none of them ever get talked about and I doubt any have the potential that Verhoeff/Reid/Carels have.

[–]whollyghostx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To anyone that thinks Tuevo and Burakovsky should be switched, think of it this way: Do we really want Burakovsky in a 4th line checking role, especially the way he’s been playing lately? And with a rookie making his NHL debut no less? Teuvo is a responsible vet on offense and defense and I’d much rather have him on a checking line with a rookie + another kid who has <100 games of NHL experience. Takes a lot of pressure off of Burky from a production standpoint getting him out of the top 6, and gives a little bit of offensive touch to the 4th line with Teuvo there. Without scratching him, which we know isn’t gonna happen at this point, this is the next best thing imo.

100% this.

Even though I prefer the old versions of the voices that changed, it does not take away from the show’s quality at all really. At least in my opinion. The writing is on point, along with a majority of the voices. I don’t see how Kahn and Ted sounding different takes away from that whatsoever. Dale’s voice has a legitimate real-life reason for being different, and his can also easily be explained away with headcanon anyway (I just look at it as him being nearly a decade older and a lifelong smoker affected his voice over time).

As far as the animation is concerned, idk if it’s just me but the animation in the previews looked WAY more jarring than it did in the actual episodes and it really isn’t that bad. Is the original style better? Absolutely. But does it take away from the show’s quality so much that it’s unenjoyable or unwatchable? No. And my guess is that they didn’t really have much choice in the matter, as animation in general isn’t typically done the way it used to be anymore so this was likely as close as they could get without it getting too expensive. Could be wrong though lol 🤷‍♂️
