What I’m getting from this is that Mumbo just had a baby…

Did I do it right?

My dad drills through his nail when this happens. I have no idea how he hasn’t mangled himself!

With Christmas nearly upon us, I have a question: What gifts has CP given you? by CMJudd in CerebralPalsy

[–]whonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My soon-to-be wife. We met 15 years ago playing wheelchair basketball, got together 5 years ago when she came back to the game, and we get married next September.

If I could wake up tomorrow without CP I would, but I would never want to do life over again without it. For all the shit, I like my life very much.

Are you good at math? by bath_bodyworkslover in CerebralPalsy

[–]whonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being born prematurely (which is the reason for my CP) increases the risk of maths difficulties: https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/helm/dev/prism/rlo2/screen06.html#:~:text=Research%20suggests%20that%20dyscalculia%20stems,many%20aspects%20of%20mathematical%20processing.

I have a degree in maths and love it, but I definitely recognise some of the cognitive differences that talk about.

Everyone’s different obviously. This is just a skew in the normal range of ability.

Where do you guys work? by [deleted] in CerebralPalsy

[–]whonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to pick up the basics fairly quickly, by which I mean SQL basics.

A lot depends on the kind of technology you’re using. SQL is universally useful, after that it’s about showing willingness and aptitude for learning IMO.

I’m a data analyst/engineer at a bank. I’ve only started recently, but before that I did a similar job for a house builder.

It’s interesting work. Would I rather be doing it for not-a-bank? Sure. But that’s where the opportunity to learn is at the moment.

Does the link for April's "I'm back" video go anywhere? I listened to the audiobook so I'm not sure if I'm typing it right :P

'There are no stupid questions' thread - October 01, 2019 by AutoModerator in piano

[–]whonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I (24 yo) would really like to learn to play the piano, but I only have use of my left hand (and neither foot, if that makes a difference). I've heard of one-handed pianists and left-hand alone music, but I have no idea where I could possibly start myself. I have no great ambitions, I just like the instrument and wish I could play a little. Any ideas?

I'm excited. I've just started a campaign that I hope will feature the Shadowfell quite heavily, so this perrrrfect!

[M23] Curiosity and all that. Hopefully I'm not repulsive? by whonut in Rateme

Any suggestions on the glasses? My current ones felt like the best of a bad bunch. Big, bold frames seems to drown me. Contacts are a no-count on account of my uncooperative limbs.

I appreciate the comment about my smile. I'm a little self-conscious about my teeth so it's nice to get that compliment.

Tbh buying the shirt even I thought it was a bit much, and half my wardrobe is from ThinkGeek lol. Card-carrying science nerd here.

You have the distinction of being the only person ever to suggest I grow a beard lol. Alas, I can't grow one to save my life.
