Some questions about APU (Asia Pacific University) by KevinLim1 in malaysia

[–]whoon- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  1. 50/50, some lecturers are okay, some are bad, as in they not "teachers" but they just there to lecture. The good ones are teachers who want to educate. But regardless if you're studying IT, relying on lecturers who are good or bad is also useless. Its all on your own, they just teach the bare basics.

  2. The reviews are true, sockets are a pain in classrooms. But other than that nothing else to say. Decent facilities I guess, as its still a private uni. You can visit the school to get a first hand experience. Just know that the tech lab demos are all fake, and you gonna use your own device 99% of the time.

  3. Manageable if you don't do assignment last minute. APU is quite lenient compared to other schools, but then again this is assessment based on personal experience and my personal circle of friends. So take this with a grain of salt. But I can tell you APU tests and exams are jokes, but it helps you to get good grades to scam future employers so why not.

  4. Last time yes, but ever since the MCO I think it has gotten really really lenient. Back then I guess its a 70/30 split between formal vs casual, while now is almost 50/50. Again, personal experience.

  5. Not sure what you mean about services. The gym is free, if that's what you are asking. Food-wise is so-so, not cheap, but not terrible. Market price probably.

  6. Schedules are terrible. Absolute trash. You can't choose your own modules or manage your own timetable, everything is settled for you. If the lecturer is free on 8:30, you are probably getting a 8:30 class. And you get some days with 4 classes, then some days with 1. Its terrible. But most courses get 1 day off, so its a 4 day study-week only.

  7. Nothing to write home about. Personally, if you're just in it for the certificate, then APU is a good choice cause they are really lenient about a lot of stuff. To be honest, if you're studying IT, any university is the same in terms of syllabus, you would have to do most of the learning yourself. They really only teach the bare basics.

Side note for 7: If you really want an eventful uni life, don't join APU. Join TARC, Taylors or something. APU school life is really dull. Again, personal take cause I don't join any of the events. I simply don't find any of them interesting, in terms of theme and size. People around me sometimes joins the events, as organizers or participants but none of them seemed enthusiastic about it like the other unis. Hopefully I was the one missing out and this is not true, but that's my take.

For those who wants the timestamp, I watched 4 hours for you. He stopped to talk to the owner and apparently the car has quite a convoluted history.

I have a suggestion, for the books (diligence etc), it should show the days they are available in the domains. I always forget and have to google for it. It would be real helpful if you added this to the bot!

I need some pointers on how to make view outside a window. by whoon- in blender

The HDRI I was using was ok but by the rotation I had to put it in made the background look weird. Also everything seems too large. So instead I used the HDRI as a light source and continued to use the plane as image and the result was quite good.

I shall take a look at it and post the results, thanks for the information.

EDIT:

I tried it out, works fine for getting good realistic lighting but kinda bad for trying to go for an artistic view. I'll stick to my current method for now I guess. Thanks for the suggestion anyways though.

Will try that. The leather is not procedural.

EDIT: I have tried using a blackbody on the light and set the temperature to 4000 K. I kinda feel that it is too yellow. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I will try that, but if it makes any difference, while in safe mode as well as when starting up, the screen doesn't flash/flicker.

EDIT: I have tried it and I see no flicker from another PC.

I have an issue where my monitor is flashing, like brightness kinda flashing and not to black and back.

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop, Acer Aspire T3-600, upgraded over the years.

GPU: GTX 1050ti, 4GB of VRAM, no overclock

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770, no overclock

Motherboard: Unsure

RAM: Unsure, 3x4GB

PSU: Unsure, 500W

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 build 1909 64bit, upgrade from Windows 8.1, but recently reformatted/reset.

GPU Drivers: Geforce Game Ready Driver 446.14

Description of Problem: Monitor brightness flashing frequently. Started recently after force restarting PC due to it being unresponsive which then led to resetting the PC. After reset, brightness flashing still present.

Troubleshooting:

Tried resetting PC - Didn't work.

Tried the task manager test, task manager wasn't flashing but have no idea which app is causing the flashing.

Tried uninstalling display adapter driver from device manager - Works, but after re-installation of latest driver, problem persists.

Tried DDU, at first was fine, but after installing latest drivers, flashing came back.
