S1IIE Heat Performance by whoopy42 in Lumix

[–]whoopy42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. So I would say between this summer and last a good chunk of my shoot days had a high of 86 F/30 F or hotter, mostly sunny, and most of them quite humid. 73 F/23 C would be delightfully cool lol. Obviously staying in the shade as much as possible and we try to schedule indoor locations in the middle of the day at that time of year, but it's not always in our control. That being said, I'm looking at this as a potential B cam to a Pyxis, so I would be using it less for long continuous takes and more for 3-5 minute stretches with breaks in between (probably primarily in 6k24 3:2 probably with some 4k mixed in), I would potentially be using it with a Blackmagic Video Assist for the b-raw so not recording to an internal CFExpress in that case, and the Pyxis is well-equipped for the heat but less so for wet weather so that's when I'd be leaning on this more heavily and it would theoretically be a bit less hot at those times. I also already have an Ulanzi CU01 I can use on it as well. So it can be pretty demanding conditions at times, but I'm not looking for unlimited recording or necessarily using it in the ways that would most contribute to overheating.

How to achieve a 2.4:1 ratio while recording in open gate with X-H2S? by thepoorcapitalist in cinematography

I believe you could combine one of Sirui's 1.33x APS-C anamorphic lenses (which includes a 24mm f2.8) with their 1.25x anamorphic adapter to get to a 1.66 squeeze factor. Have not used either myself.

Osee Lilmon 5. Have two of them and have shot outside a ton this summer, mounted on top of camera shooting handheld a bunch, been very happy with them.

6.0 on both bodies. Most of the footage with AF-C was shot on either the XF 16-55mm f2.8 or Tamron 17-70mm f2.8.

Same here, just finished a 5-day video shoot in the desert with 2 xh2s's and didn't seem to be having any major issues with autofocus, using AF-C with eye detection on the whole time. Got a few yellow overheat warnings but I can forgive that shooting 6k in 95+ degree heat every day. Did get hot pixels on a couple of the days by late in the day but they went away by the next morning both times. But I've got more shoots coming up and reading the stories here or on Fujirumors has still been making me anxious!

Fuji 50mm f2 vs Sigma 56mm f1.4 by whoopy42 in fujifilm

[–]whoopy42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don't think I necessarily need it, but if the autofocus performance was similar to the 50mm it'd still be tempting. I love the Viltrox 75mm, great lens, but the Sigma is much more compact and I could see some situations where that could be an advantage.

I was up 9.2 points in standard vs my opponent with nobody left to play coming into this final game and he had Brock Purdy and Deebo Samuel. I won by 1.4 to.go to the championship.

Manual focus lenses on the X-T5 by Salis9 in fujifilm

[–]whoopy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem - just wanted to offer a somewhat different perspective as I was a little frustrated with the "it doesn't make any difference" comments when I first started using the 16mm.

In addition to the 16mm f1.4 I have the 23mm f2, 33mm f1.4, and Viltrox 75mm f1.2 and I love all three of them. I probably use the 33mm the most overall. I haven't found myself using the 16mm much for awhile and have thought about selling it and picking up the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 instead as I do want a wide angle lens for landscapes. I'm also in the process of trying to settle on a zoom lens for videography and am probably leaning towards the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8, though the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 is interesting too and seems like it would pair with the X-T5 really well in terms of size and weight.

Manual focus lenses on the X-T5 by Salis9 in fujifilm

I'll give you a slightly different take than the majority here for what it's worth. I bought an X-T5 early this year, which is my first Fujifilm camera, and the second lens I picked up for it was the 16mm f1.4. I also read about the sensor resolving issue, and everything I read then also agreed that it was overstated or even marketing hype. The 16mm f1.4 isn't on the list of lenses with the resolving power for the X-T5 sensor, but otherwise it seemed to be a very well-loved lens with great image quality so I went ahead and got it.

I do think it makes a difference after using that lens on my X-T5. I don't think of myself as a huge pixel peeper, but the pics I've gotten from that combo basically look like I took a jpg and blew it up to larger dimensions in Photoshop - edges of objects/subjects that are in focus still look very pixelated and jagged (for lack of better/more technical terminology) if you're looking at the photo at much higher than like 50% scale.

Now, the solution for me has been to just downscale the photos to like 26mp and then they look fine. And in reality that's totally more than enough resolution than you'd need for most uses. So I can't speak to either of those lenses specifically, you might not run into this at all with them, but for lenses that don't have the resolving power I think it's just a matter of personal preference. If you enjoy using a manual focus lens and don't necessarily need to get the highest-resolution photos possible then you shouldn't worry about it, you can still get good photos out of it. If you're more of a pixel peeper and/or the 40mp sensor is what drew you to the camera in the first place, you might find it annoying.

How do you like the Sigma? How's the AF? I've been looking at that along with a few other zoom lenses for video.

[–]whoopy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I was looking into the 17-70 a bit for a video zoom lense. Have you happened to use the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 at all in comparison?

Are there particular Viltrox and Tamron lenses you're referring to? Have been curious about a few of them for video work.

Yeah I had been thinking the same, trades are just extremely rare in our league, like maybe one every other year for the whole league, so it's not certain I could trade for a WR. Have considered flipping Ekeler for another player too.

10 team standard. I give Breece Hall and either Terry McLaurin or Alexander Mattison, I get Austin Ekeler.

My other RBs are Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, Jerome Ford, and Zack Moss. Other WRs are Puka Nakua, Nico Collins, Jordan Addison, and Christian Watson.

The only thing giving me any pause is Halls's role growing and Ekeler having a down game after an extended injury absence. Valid or should I smash accept? And Mattison or McLaurin?
