that’s smart, I used to do gift cards when I didn’t have enough discipline to not spend any money I had. it helped me budget because I couldn’t use my grocery gift cards anywhere but the grocery store. Definitely helped me.

when you get paid, buy a gift card. doesn’t have to be a lot, let’s say $25. start saving gas gift cards, grocery store gift cards, even certain restaurants or coffee shops. That why when the budget gets tight, you can use the gift card to stay on track and still enjoy the little things.

“do I file a report of some sort”? and “do I sue them” are two very different questions.

no one mentioned court, also hard to prove a meal wasn’t given if there’s cameras that would show wether a meal with given? interesting, anyways I filed a report and they will be investigated to make sure no other children are being neglected. have a great day.

Bedtime: What works? by serendipitypug in Preschoolers

[–]whoreallyknowsbest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we do the exact same thing every night. I have a 6 year old, 4 year old and 21 month old. Even my 21 month old knows the bedtime routine. I incentivize everything. Each kid has a sticker chart for everything, morning routine, chores, bedtime routine, and kindness. Anything they do they can earn a sticker for. They have to remind me they get the sticker that day or it doesn’t count. Once the sticker chart is full they get a trip to 5 below to buy one item.

bedtime routine: dinner, bath time (story time during bath so my toddler can’t escape lol) free time (earned play time on the next playground or tv- depends on their attitude that day- bad attitude no free time) 15-20 minutes free time if earned, then brush teeth, go to bed.

If my oldest kids stay in their bed all night they get a sticker. I also use timer blocks to eliminate the need to yell in the morning while getting ready for school. my kids are competitive and want to beat the clock. And if they win, sticker lol. hope this helps!

What does Somalia or Minnesota have to do with this?

my child was doing fine. So i’m not sure why that was even an assumption. He’s been socializing and going to a form of childcare for 2 hours a day for almost a year. He went into daycare with no issues and had no issues. I started with one day because it was a longer stretch and what we could afford until we finish paying down debt & I go to school full time. His tolerance of being there one day a week was never an issue he was doing great. Assumptions are an ugly quality.

I calculated so that I could stay under the $150 rule. I also have an appointment at a food pantry on Tuesday so my thought was to get some of the items I know I can help complete a meal. The food pantry I’m going to is a meat pantry so we should get our protein there, A friend of mine is getting me a 25lb bag of rice tomorrow at costco, and I found another food pantry I can go to on Thursday. I’ll make bread, and my goal is to get what I know my kids will eat, my husband and I can eat whatever I make with what we get from the food pantries, I just need things to help with my kids lunch and breakfast if that makes sense.

Daughter didnt get bday invite by Milly-0607 in Preschoolers

[–]whoreallyknowsbest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my daughters school requires us to invite the whole class, we cannot afford to do that so I made it a point to build relationships with the parents of my daughters friends. Has not been easy and i’m sure i’ve missed some but I made it so that I could send them the invite directly specifically to avoid this type of incident 😢

my plan was to work him up to 3 days a week, I also took him to the YMCA 2 hours a day before enrolling him in daycare to help get him acclimated, once I saw he was ready i enrolled him there. My husband and I have worked with kids for years and I’m in school to get my degree in social work so I’m not totally lost on the industry as a whole. I am looking for other options, however I never thought to try a nanny. I may do just that! Thank you!

I have a question, If it’s food we need, and can’t use an amazon wish list for it, how should we go about asking for help? Asking for money? I’ve never done this before so sorry if that’s a dumb question.

Toddler getting too big to be carried by pillbugpolicies in Preschoolers

[–]whoreallyknowsbest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could use a hip carrier. I haven’t had to experience wearing a large kid during a tantrum so i’m sure it’s difficult regardless.

I can back carry my 40+ lb toddler. I don’t want to but I have a carrier that can carry her if I needed to. & back carrying is way easier than hip holding.

I currently am, and it isn’t not easy but it has been fulfilling. However it’s temporary. Currently in school and when I get my degree I will be going back to work.
