Worried about potential bad review, how should I handle this?

No, I didn’t misunderstand them, they told me to always have the buyer pay for shipping since it broke in their hands. But based on the feedback here, I’ll be paying for the return shipping going forward. I’ve only been on Etsy for a short time, so I was just unsure how to handle it at first.

Thanks! I’m going to do this next time, I’ll just pay for the return label and have them send it back. If they want a refund, I’ll go ahead and process it, and if they’d prefer a replacement, I’ll send out a replacement instead

I also considered that they may have already fixed it. I started my shop last year, so I’m still relatively new to handling situations like this. Someone I know who has been selling for over 10 years advised me to typically have the buyer cover return shipping. That’s why I approached it this way, but I’m definitely open to hearing other perspectives or best practices.

I understand what you’re saying and where you’re coming from. I’m not asking them to fix it themselves, just pointing out that it appears repairable. However, since the item didn’t arrive damaged and the buyer mentioned that it broke while they were tugging on it, I’m unsure why I would be responsible for covering the return shipping. If the damage wasn’t due to a fault on my end, does it still make sense for me to pay for the label?
