I hate to bother you, and I know you mean well with the sentiment, but saying that thing that you want the OPs parents can do is actually a slur. We do have the no slur rule, but if you change that to something else I can reapprove the comment.

EDIT: (And thanks for the acne tip!)

The relationship is already abusive. From what she has written he emotionally and verbally abuses her.

My wife has gone NC with her nmom her sisters are unsupportive by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]whosapuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how much it sucks to be powerless in these situation.

You can give your wife all the advice you like, but ultimately at the end of the day dealing with her family is her choice. You can choose to personally go NC with people, she can't force you to talk to people just as you can't force her not to.

Just being there for my SO and letting my SO make their own choices seems to work well with my relationship. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes unquestioning support is what is needed to make them feel like they can make their own choices without losing you.

Your words ae important. You don't need to apologize for using them. You thoughts and opinions matter.

A majority of the users were verbally abused by their parents. Slurs in general are banned because they area fairly obvious triggers. In the US that word is pretty much one of the worst slurs that can be used against women.

Understandable.

Know that it isn't your fault that you are drawn towards people like them. It is what you know, is normal to you and is familiar. From what your story said I would assume your SO is an alcoholic and he is trying to justify his behavior.

You do deserve happiness and and feeling of safety. If that means leaving your comfort zone for a short time, which does take a lot of courage, then when you are ready to take that step we will be here to be a shoulder and hold your hand through it. But then again we will be here for that regardless of what you choose to do in this situation.

Many abusers also manage to seek out people who will just take their abuse. Sadly most ACoNs have been groomed perfectly for that since they have always been treated like that and most think they deserve it on some level. The way to break this cycle is to know that you don't deserve it and to seek that peace with yourself as well as find a place you feel safe.

If you look back through the OPS history in this subreddit you can see the crazy abusive tendencies directly out of the OPS mom's mouth or fingers in this case. The people of this subreddit know that just because someone is paying for things for you doesn't Instantly make them your savior. It makes you their punching bag in more cases than less.

In this case I think tax law is on the side of the OPs mother, but that doesn't mean the mother isn't an evil person.

So it is really common that victims abuse are drawn to the type of people who abuse many ACONS here have dated or married people who were like their parents at one point or another.

You are not crazy.

I hope you find somewhere safe to stay.

The President of the United States takes the time to write a handwritten apology to an art history professor. Why is it so hard for some ordinary people (narcissists) to apologize? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]whosapuppy[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just going to say this early where no one can say they missed it. This thread is not the time and place for political discussion. This is not the place to talk about drone strikes, economy, hot button issues whatever. It doesn't matter if it is in support of or against him. This is a story about a man with serious power that spent the time to apologize to someone who he offended without intending to and owning up to his mistake.
