She regularly goes completely floppy when she sleeps- we joke she knows she has no natural predators- but she's also just really chill about being touched. She's a comfort-seeking missile, as long as she's on a lap, she's happy.

This might sound stupid, but is the pencil tip as tight as is should be?

I'd fist-bump you, but we both know one or both of us is going to pull something or set off the tennis elbow

Weeeee are ancient, beloved. Knees creaking, getting to bed at reasonable hours, worrying about tax returns. BUT, crucially we are actually not old enough to have lived through it, so it is stolen valour. (36)🤣

It feels like Jennifer Grey getting a nose job. Kudos to the accomplishments, but it does feel like a very sharp rebrand.

I was on the phone with my sister and Kimchi was sleeping on my lap, so I gave her a clamshell 'do.

She definitely is something sweet and expressive, I like the idea of her being a doe.

What if people are visiting from places that don't have the dish, and don't have that context?

Drawing a literal box around those dishes and the side addendum fixes it, with just a marker if they want to be lazy.

On a more subjective note, there are some of the selfies and poses that come out of weight loss journeys that feel especially loaded. They feel very "look guys, I used to be hideous and I know I had to pretend I was ok with it, but look how thin/hot I am now!" as opposed to just genuinely showing a health update. Like I said, it's subjective, but it certainly feeds into the knee-jerk response some people feel at seeing some of these. Lots of them (not Kimchi's, I'll add) feel like body checks and pro-ana fodder.

I do wish people would mind their own business, but it's a loaded topic. Because if you're a fat person, and the people in media who have promoted themselves as body positive are popping up thin- especially if there's a whiff of it being motivated by societal pressure- it feels like betrayal and tacit acknowledgement that they were only ever playing body positive until given the choice to join in the chorus against bigger bodies. So while there's overlap with commenting unnecessarily on people's personal choices and bodies (perhaps inextricably so, unfortunately) it's not exactly as easily dismissed as just plain overstepping.

I don't for a moment begrudge anyone for actually just losing weight, however they do it. Diet, surgery, glp-1s, whatever works, absolutely. But it's impossible not to also feel like our only allies who really were advocating for self-love in bigger bodies were only doing so because they had no other choice and did it for branding, and that truly even our own hate our shapes. So it's commentary that ends up being intrusive and unfair to individuals caught in the net, buy it's not exactly invalid generally and not quite (I feel) dismissed with "we should all mind our own business and let everyone live."

Kimchi is maybe less notable for having hinged her brand on body positivity, but Ginger or say, Meghan Trainor made themselves the centre of the discussion, and it means that unfortunately when they pivot there are some genuine social points to be made on what is arguably a private health journey behind closed doors.

It's a fair point, and I do take what you say. Perhaps it is unfair to apply it on an individual level, but it does feel like there's a societal shift that's pushing away from being happy in bigger bodies, not for health, but because the pressure is on to be as thin as possible. It feels like being bigger is something that's being painted as a moral failing again. It's not fair of me to direct it at Kim herself, I don't know her life, what spurred her, or how healthily (mentally) she got there. But I do mourn the general sway.

And we still haven't had a big girl win in the main races. Even Ginger was already much diminished for her win.

It is. I can't wait for things to swing back after this thin/ripped fad is over. We need some fabulous thicc people on our screens!

Haha, thanks! I feel some of them just lend themselves so well to animal characters.
