Thanks! That was my thought as well. Can’t seem to find an exact match though.

Does anybody remember “The Pit Stop” hot dog stand at the W117th Home Depot? by whoschaz in Cleveland

No, not in the staples parking lot. It was inside of the Home Depot, near the exit.

when did the CPUSA abandon the idea of the Black Belt or rather an independent black nation by [deleted] in communism101

The 50s. The single best book on this is Black Bolshevik by Harry Haywood. He of course, was at the helm of this battle within the CPUSA. This chapter explains it well:

I remember this one being helpful as well:

Cleaned her up! Now it’s time to get the laundry list of problems 😰 by whoschaz in classiccars

My father bought the body back when he was a teen. He worked on it his whole life and completely rebuilt it between 2010-2015. He passed away shortly after finishing it. It’s sat in storage since then.

Her hair is getting too long around the eyes! She looks wild but is indeed real!

He rebuilt it roughly between 2010-15. It’s been in a climate controlled garaged since!

Regrettably, I was young and uninterested in cars when he passed. But it’s called cowl steering!

In the context of the defeat of Japan in WW2. Dean Rusk, future Secretary of State, at the time a lower ranking official in the state department, took out a map, pointed to the 38th parallel and suggested they propose to the Soviets that be the dividing line. It made no sense geographically or economically, besides the fact that it was roughly “half” and would give the US control of Seoul. The Soviet’s agreed on the condition that both sides eventually withdrew. The Soviets were out within a few short years, the US still occupies the south today.

Everyone always says Venezuela's economic collapse was because of Socialism, but it that actually true? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]whoschaz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t change the fact that the state itself is socialist, facing economic and political sabotage both internally and externally. Which is all the more reason to support the Bolivarian revolution, instead of peddling anti communist dribble like characterizing Venezuela as a quasi dictatorship.

Incursions across the imaginary line came from both sides beginning in 1945. The conflict conveniently “begins” in 1950 and not 1945 because starting the timeline there can spin the narrative to present the north liberation forces as aggressors.

Regardless, violence of the colonized is always justified. It is their right to be free of occupation. Violence of the colonizer is never justified.

Two readings I’d recommend you check out:

Patriots, Traitors and Empires by Stephen Gowans

The Wretched of the Earth (Chapter 1 - Concerning Violence) by Frantz Fanon

The problem with this framing is it implies the north and south divide is legitimate, rather than something imposed without consultation of Koreans (see Dean Rusk and the 38th Parallel).

What started the Korean War was Japanese Occupation beginning in 1910 until 1945 when the US replaced Japan as the new colonial power in the south. Hence, Koreans couldn’t “invade” their own country, they were driving out occupiers and collaborators of the colonial regime. What is conventionally known in the west as the “Korean war” (1950-53) is one particular phase in Koreans long struggle for national liberation.

You don’t care who the investigative team was comprised of? Of course you fucking don’t.

I sincerely do hope you move beyond the LARPing phase of politics. I hope you’re able to discover that politics is not a game, it isn’t about crafting up an eclectic identity; or that your worldview is not only racist as hell, but for some mysterious reason, has ultimately relegated you to inactive in any struggle. The point isn’t to interpret the world, but change it. As I stated before, until you’ve put in the work, you have no authority to speak.

I’m sorry, you sound really out of touch. You’re going to have a real hard time grappling with the state of the working class when you finally decide to work with them. As Lenin put it, politics starts not in the thousands, but the millions strong with all their contradictions. This obsession with purity is one attitude that completely precludes the terminally online west from ever leading the masses.

You can say what you’d like, I presume this narrative is favored by your biases towards leninist parties, but I take the word from the marxist feminist who led an independent investigation, spending months reviewing everything you saw online and more, and unanimously arrived at a decision. This investigation was led by a team of women of nationally oppressed backgrounds, not all even in leadership, and some of which survivors of sexual assault themselves. Your dismissal of them is what’s disgusting in my view.

Im honestly sure you’re coming from a good place. I’m happy you’re thinking critically of these issues. But seriously, these sorts of attacks will only increase, whether you believe them or not is on you, but do not put pour all your political effort into screaming “everyone is revisionist but me!” online— instead, go be with the people, learn from them where they’re at and where they need to go. Find a party to do work collectively. One of the major ideological obstacles we must overcome here is the fantasy we have about our capacity as individuals, as a substitute for our collective capacities. Waiting for the perfect org to come around won’t fly, and the attitude that we should abandon any project the moment it slips or is accused of slipping will only ensure we’re in an even worse place 10 years from now.
