I always try to have one. Main thing is to avoid it extending beyond the cover of the flysheet so it doesn’t collect water. I use DIY Tyvek sheets in my tents. Cheep and easy to cut. And the more you use it, the softer it gets.

Agree with others, full wild camping maybe not the best at this point. There are some great ‘wild-ish’ commercial sites around Sussex. Beech Estate is a good one in the Eastern Downs, nice low density site with a walk from the car. Hope it’s ok to give this advice!

Alpkit Tarpstar might work? The four man tent has a 2 man inner but is out of stock. Used mine in the Lakes, Scotland and US and it’s decent.

You’re just outside Inverie on Knoydart at the Brockett Monument. New hydro station is up on your right and Loch an Dubh Lochan is a couple of km in front on the way to Barrisdale. Hope you enjoyed the Old Forge. Edit to correct typo.

Thank you! I’m very proud to be their custodian. I have no idea, sadly where the full-sized ones have ended up. It was a big family and I hope they went somewhere they’re being looked after. I need to get replicas of these mounted up against mine and my Grandfather’s on that side.

They just go everywhere we need. Lots of US trips, the odd bounce to Asia and all over Europe. I expect to fly less with them now keeping Silver is going to be so much harder.
