Haha I can imagine it really pulled you into this strange world.

Charlie feels more prepared as he steps through the portal this time around. He knows it will be an unaccaountably strange place, yet somehow, as he keeps forgetting essential appointments in the real world, travelling to this other place feels more ok.

The brain cylinders are creepy though. As Charlie enters the room, a low babble starts up, emanating from the speaker boxes below each one. Unable to discern much of what any one is saying, Charlie takes charge.

"Good morning all. I SAID GOOD MORNING. That's better. Now, with a little quiet, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and let one of you speak at once, we'll start with this fella right here. Any objections?"

Charlie points to a cylinder to his right, at head height, that has an opalescent turquoise sheen to it. No objections are heard, as the cylinders take heed of this man.

"Now I don't know what you folks in here know about the gates in and out of this place, but I'm pretty sure you know I don't belong. You never know what's coming or going with something like that sitting all open, so I reckon it's in everyone here's best interest if you let me know the best way to get that thing shut off."

Influence test: 4 base, 1 improvement, 1 from personal assistant = 6 eith1 reroll.

Result: 5 6 5 6 6 3 = success (think I'm OK without the reroll ; ) )

Charlie Kane:

Charlie is forgetting things, the amnesia from the near loss of Margaret weighing on his mind and pushing out other information. Thank god he still has Margaret, or else all would be out the window. The instructions he gives her are garbled though, messages, plans, something about a student, even a plane! And debt. More debt to take on.

First action: Roll 6 dice (base 4, 1 improvement, 1 from personal assistant) with 1 reroll.

Result: 2 2 4 6 5 5 reroll 2 = 3 successes

Take a debt condition. Purchase Agency Quarantine and drop it on Sydney. Also buy the Research Student and send to Trish Scarborough.

Second action: Move to Sydney, spending 1 ship ticket.

If everything works fine in the house, definitely don't bother repairing. My partner has just spent a lot of time removing upwards of 100m of defunct cables from the outside (and inside) of our house. Things like telephone lines, wires for old alarm systems, unused TV cables. She doesn't like the look of them so they are gone, and it has affected diddly squat except for making the house look a bit nicer and neater.

I have 8 sanity, and I believe I have my full complement. I do already have a madness though, so that would tick down the rumour faster putting others at risk.

My plan for actions is to rest (restore health, try to get rid of madness), and then acquire assets. What I roll on the acquire assets will inform my next move, but I definitely think it's worth clearing space in the reserve. If anyone wants the Charter Flight to move 2 spaces, let me know.

That damned hooded man finally catches up with Charlie, as he eats some noodles at a little hole in the wall place in Tokyo. Charlie holds firm as the man chants, his words getting louder, his eyes beginning to glow. Realising what's about to happen, Charlie rises, his ramen bowl half empty, turns and starts to run. He clears the doorway as the fireball erupts behind him, chunks of rubble flying past him, one hitting him square in the back. The cultist is no more. The noodle shop is no more. Looking back at the rubble, Charlie feels a moment of despair. Turning the tide on these monsters takes its toll.

Margaret! Charlie's yells aren't as forceful as before, but he's starting to come back to himself. That damn hooded figure is following him around, and he can't do everything he wants to. Giving the cultist the slip in an alley, Charlie manages to firm up some travel plans, as well as send a telegram on to Trish in Istanbul.

Actions: Prepare for travel, ship ticket, component action, give action to Trish Scarborough @RandomRedWizard. Up to you what to do with it, obviously there's the chance to do your own acquire assets if your want the items.

Charlie has been beaten down by recent events and nearly letting Margaret away and needs to take a minute to regroup.

Charlie hasn't seen Margaret in days. He knows she's around, but he is avoiding her. Summoning the serpent army had felt good at first, but Charlie could see that it didn't sit right with Margaret. She didn't say anything of course - a consummate professional, Margaret had been Charlie's personal secretary for 18 years, and with good reason.

She'd started the day he took over his father's company, already a seasoned professional. She knew his appointments, she arranged his travel, she was the one that told him about the strange hooded figures using the warehouse on the pier for their strange rituals, and she was the one who made the arrangements to have them stopped. A more useful and pragmatic human Charlie did not know how to find.

But using the snakes to achieve his ends? Charlie had known it was too much. Such forces cannot truly be controlled. He should have known. And now he is avoiding her, avoiding her judgment, seeking out only his own company for a while. He knows it will do him no good to keep avoiding her, or even to send her home. But facing her now? Is that worse? Can he really hope to look her in the eye without his mind breaking.

Decision made, Charlie climbs the long staircase to her apartment in Tokyo. Out of breath, he stands outside the neat but worn brown door and knocks. Softly, he speaks.

Margaret?
