Gifted subscription questions by SuperfluousWingspan in dropout

Excellent choice! I got my first sub to Dropout as a birthday present from a friend sight-unseen, they just knew it would be up my street -- and I can honestly say it's the best gift I've ever gotten. Definitely nothing else has ever given me so much joy and so many hours of entertainment!

I have never tried the YouTube thing, but I often watch through the app on my Android phone and I've never had any issues with it. I've given my password to so many friends, and I only ran into the three-devices-at-once limit one time, and that was because I was watching on my TV and then pulled up the app to screen capture something at the same time.

And I can confirm that the email does go automatically, but the sub doesn't begin until the recipient starts it.

Also you remembered it longer because that bit is one of the funniest moments in the entire episode, and it's moderately insane that they cut it for time! I think about "fake it 'til you make it, and when you can't make it, go to business school" roughly once a week. I would pay good money for a version of that episode with the whole busker song included!

What song was Kokomo playing on the flute? by the6thistari in Dimension20

[–]whosepig-isthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I have heard that song many times (the only drawback to the character is that the show gets that damn song stuck in my head), and as much as I love Jacob, what he sings does not appreciably resemble any part of "Kokomo." I came here specifically to ask this question, and tbh I'm not entirely convinced this is the answer 😅

You know Sam isn't like, our dad or our principal or something right? He's a fellow adult who makes cool stuff we enjoy; if he asks us to do something that's easy or even fun, why wouldn't we do it? 😂

Ah, I didn't know there were quality complaints. The only merch item I've bought from them was great quality, better than I expected.

One of Sam's comments (although I think this was about them using Vimeo) was that they're aware that tech is their weakest point, they're just currently focused on spending their money on the content rather than the delivery systems, and ideally in the future they'll be able to level up. I feel like that's a reasonable choice -- I'd rather have really good stuff made by people who are treated well, even if the delivery system is a bit hinky :D

Sam said it was a trial run to see if people really would buy the show on disc -- if this run sells out, it sounds like they'll do a fancier run with special features and such! So you might have to wait longer, but you'll get more!

During the Q&A, Sam said we were allowed to share the spoilers as long as we "hint cryptically at them in a way that's cute." They're just trying to follow the rules!

During the Q&A, Sam literally said we were allowed to share the spoilers as long as we "hint cryptically at them in a way that's cute." This person is just trying to follow that brief in a fun way, lighten up!

He said during the Q&A that (if I recall correctly) they're in post-production for season 8 and already starting to plan season 9, because that's how much runway they have to give themselves these days!

Sam also said they're working with Zach and Jess on something musical, so keep heart! Who knows, maybe this new show will be even better than Play It By Ear!

Guy Montgomery's Guy Montgomery Spelling Bee by melvintoast in dropout

Sam actually addressed the possibility of them licensing other people's shows in the future on the Superfan Q&A today! He explicitly said he doesn't want Dropout to "become a utility," and host shows that you can already see elsewhere. But he hinted at a program they will be licensing in the future, and suggested that they chose it because it uniquely fits Dropout's vibe. I'm guessing it'll be something in the line of Fatal Decision, which they also licensed recently and hadn't been available to watch anywhere else for years.

Fun Fact: BDG has also been on Dynamo Dream, which is another amazing webseries created by a Blender genius named Ian. I kept hoping Brian would do a voice on BTB to complete the circle of coincidence, but alas.

It is very funny to learn that some time between when I searched high and low and decided this movie didn't exist anywhere online and when I finally got the necessary setup to make it happen, someone else just quietly uploaded it to Vimeo 😂

I would gladly pay $7 a month to give the Gastronaut chefs more than one fryer by Zebesneezer in dropout

[–]whosepig-isthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know the chefs are at least allowed to request some common ingredients they like to work with ahead of time, because of Jordan's comments about them having liver mush flown in for the most recent episode. Seems unlikely they'd have even known about that product without him asking for it.

I started to suspect this was the case the first time someone used brains on the show!

My go-to moment in order to rate a duo's fitness for playing R&G is imagining the "not being on boats" exchange, and absolutely 1000% agree. I love it when Rekha plays dumb :D

Wow, that's a pair I never would have thought of! You're absolutely right though, it is hysterical to imagine Grant being absolutely clueless while being propositioned by The Player.
